Job summary

AECOM Corporation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering team in Milan. The role focuses on the design, coordination and delivery of mechanical building services across commercial, residential, industrial and healthcare sectors with emphasis on sustainability.

You will lead technical activities, mentor junior engineers and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Fluent in Italian and English.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical building services engineering, preferably in a consultancy.
• Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems design.
• Proven experience delivering complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience with Data Centres, Critical Facilities, Healthcare or similar complex projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM workflows.
• Knowledge of Italian and international codes and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Experience coordinating teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Professional registration or Chartered Engineer status is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of mechanical building services (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) from concept through construction.
• Prepare and review calculations, specs, reports and drawings.
• Coordinate mechanical activities with other disciplines for integrated projects.
• Manage deliverables, budgets and schedules while upholding high technical standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Attend client meetings and present engineering solutions.
• Support bids, tenders and proposals.
• Ensure compliance with codes and sustainability standards.
• Contribute to innovation and process improvements.
