Job summary

Illumina is seeking a junior Field Service Engineer for Italy (Campania or Puglia). This entry‑level role offers hands‑on work with Illumina instruments, travel up to 80%, and a path to grow technical expertise across service, applications and sales collaboration.

Based in Italy with MSc or BSc in engineering, you will install, maintain and repair systems, coordinate service requests, and build strong customer relationships while developing your knowledge in optics, lasers and IT systems.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with hands-on troubleshooting and complex instrumentation.
• Exposure to optics and lasers; familiarity with Linux/IT is advantageous.
• Fluent in Italian and English; willingness to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair and upgrade Illumina instrument systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide on-site customer support.
• Coordinate service requests toward timely resolutions.
• Support new instrument installations, including facility inspections and validation.
• Maintain service parts inventory to support interventions.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing on new system placements and renewals.
• Build strong relationships with customers and internal partners.
• Participate in departmental projects to grow technical knowledge.
