SBM Offshore in Monaco is seeking an Intern Structural Engineer to contribute to automated 3D modelling and data extraction for floating offshore wind structures.

You will develop parametric modelling methods, link models with hydrodynamic analyses, and help build a digital engineering backbone to enable faster design iterations.

Qualifications

• Master degree in engineering or equivalent is required.
• Interest in 3D modelling, automation and programming encouraged.
• Interest in offshore wind structures and digital engineering solutions.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Fluent English is required.

Responsabilités

• Develop an integrated approach for the automated generation and exploitation of 3D models of floating offshore wind structures.
• Develop a more robust and parametric modelling methodology based on lessons learned from existing models.
• Develop links between structural 3D models and Hydrodynamic models.
• Use the 3D model as a central source for automated engineering reporting and data extraction.
• Develop an Automated Bill of Quantities (BoQ), including consistent coding and automatic update of quantities following design modifications.
• Develop solutions for corrosion protection, including automatic extraction of painted surfaces, cathodic protection surfaces and tank volumes.
• Develop methods for the automated assessment of welding lengths and volumes based on structural element geometry and modelling rules.
• Support the generation of a welding map for fabrication and cost assessment.
• Investigate model-checking and visualization functionalities, such as identification by plate thickness or material grade.
• Contribute to the establishment of the 3D model as a digital engineering backbone, improving consistency between design disciplines and enabling faster and more reliable design iterations.

Purpose

The objective of this internship is to develop an integrated approach for the automated generation and exploitation of 3D models of floating offshore wind structures. The work will build on lessons learned from existing models to develop a more robust and parametric modelling methodology, including links with Hydrodynamic models. The 3D model, built on 3DExperience platform, will be used as a central source for automated engineering reporting and data extraction.

4 to 6 months internship contract, Monaco based.
