Job summary

HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær is seeking a Software Engineer to advance the VI-WorldSim platform for traffic simulation. You will build real-time sensor models, integrate open standards, and work with partners across functions to deliver robust simulation tools for mobility systems.

The role requires experience in C++/Python, sensor physics, test automation, and QA practices. Hybrid work in Italy with 50% home office and 50% office time is supported.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in C++ and Python programming for simulation software.
• Experience with sensor physics and modelling for real-time systems.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine and game tech is a plus.
• Designed and implemented automated test frameworks for complex software.
• Knowledge of test generation: scenario-based, data-driven, model-based.
• Understanding of QA principles: verification, validation, traceability.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated build/test pipelines.
• Ability to analyze requirements and define test strategies.
• Familiarity with software quality standards and test coverage metrics.
• Keeps up with industry trends in simulation and autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time virtual sensor models for traffic simulation.
• Integrate reference open standards into the platform.
• Collaborate with technical partners across functions.
• Validate simulation results against experimental data.
