Job summary

The Utility Maintenance Tech at Shamrock Foods Company in Verona, VA will verify utilities and operate/maintain cooling and boiler systems, performing preventive maintenance to ensure reliable plant operations.

Responsibilities include testing water samples, inspecting equipment, maintaining chiller units and air handlers, and supporting steam systems. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in HVAC/boiler work, can handle varied temperatures, and are willing to cover evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC or boiler systems, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
• Freon Universal, HVAC certifications preferred.
• Working knowledge of steam and pressure systems.
• Forklift/Scissor Lift certified or willing to become certified.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Fluency in English; speak, read and write.
• Self-Driven and motivated to grow.
• Ability to work in cold and wet environment for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to work in various temperature-controlled zones ranging from cold to hot.
• Ability to operate equipment at recommended speeds and communicate defects.
• Must be flexible to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Testing water samples to ensure chemical make-up is in spec.
• Check all utilities for pump, seal or motor failures and render maintenance as needed.
• Work with glycol heat transfer system; maintain and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain Trane chiller units; keep within temperature parameters.
• Maintain Air Handler Systems and keep unit components operational.
• Maintain fluid cooling towers; ensure flow, temperature and sump levels are in spec.
• Maintain steam system including boiler, DA Tank, condensate return pumps, and verify operation.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
