Ferrari S.p.A. is seeking an intern in the Software Engineering Department – SW Testing to develop and validate MATLAB Simulink plant models for HIL simulations in the Chassis domain.

You will work in a team with other interns and engineers, contributing to model optimization, code generation, and rigorous documentation. Fluency in English is required, and prior internships in automotive or luxury sectors are valued.

Competenze

• For this internship, a recent Master graduate or current Master student in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Mathematic Engineering is ideal.
• Demonstrated passion for automotive or luxury sectors and relevant internship/project experience.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and teamwork are essential, with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected.
• Fluency in English is required.

In this role, the candidate will work in Ferrari Software Engineering Department – SW Testing area, where Electronic Control Units (ECUs) are tested. The candidate will support the development, management and validation of MATLAB Simulink plant models used in advanced simulation environment. The candidate will be part of a team-oriented environment, involved in developing and applying HIL simulation technology for the Chassis controls domain.

You will cooperate in different activities, including:

• Development and maintenance of MATLAB Simulink plant models of physical systems for HIL simulation.
• Optimization of models for SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) environments.
• Defining and enforcing modelling guidelines for plant models.
• Handling model versioning and configuration (e.g., Git, SVN).
• Support of automatic code generation (e.g., Embedded Coder, Matlab Simulink compiler).
• Debugging and analysis of discrepancies between simulated and real-world behaviours.
• Ensuring proper technical documentation and requirement traceability

Required profile

For this fundamental role, we are ideally looking for a recent Master graduate or current Master student (eligible for internship) or in your final year in Aerospace, Mechanical or Mathematic Engineering.

You will not only have a passion for automotive and innovative solutions, but also already gained first work-experience through internships or projects (in automotive or luxury sectors) that allow you to understand business complexities and help you to develop your personal and communicative skills.
