Job summary

ABB E-mobility is hiring an NPI Lead for Prototyping & New Product Introduction. You will guide prototype, validation and pre-series builds, aligning materials, tooling, inputs and capacity while improving manufacturability and production readiness at scale.

You will manage a multidisciplinary team, oversee knowledge transfer from development to manufacturing, and drive a culture of operational excellence with Lean, 5S and robust process controls.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience leading prototype, pilot, pre-series or NPI activities for complex electromechanical systems.
• Proven leadership of technicians, engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of drawings, tolerances, BOMs, assembly processes and tooling.
• Solid understanding of DFM, DFA, DFT, Lean, 5S and production readiness.
• Excellent Italian and English communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead prototype, validation and pre-series builds with clear build plans.
• Drive manufacturability improvements and DFA/DFM/DFT enhancements.
• Coordinate knowledge transfer from development to manufacturing with structured handovers.
• Develop rapid prototyping capabilities including rapid PCBA sampling.
• Establish scalable, disciplined processes with 5S, visual management and traceability.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of technicians and engineers and mentor growth.
• Collaborate with R&D, Industrialization, Quality, Production and Supply Chain to ensure readiness for launches.
• Drive continuous improvement with structured problem solving and data-driven decisions.
