Job summary

AVL Italia is seeking a Design Engineer responsible for creating and managing design documentation and 3D/2D models for powertrain components and assemblies. You will ensure manufacturability and quality while maintaining documentation in AVL systems.

The role requires hands-on CAD experience (Catia/Creo), knowledge of GD&T, and familiarity with automotive industry standards, with English at a good to advanced level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Practical work experience in design of powertrain/vehicle components.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD systems (Catia and/or Creo).
• Experience in defining and applying shape, orientation, and location tolerances.
• Familiarity with automotive industry standards and processes.
• English language skills: good to advanced.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models for components and assemblies per project CAD guidelines.
• Develop 2D manufacturing drawings per standards and production tech.
• Maintain data quality and exchange with internal/external partners.
• Perform regular design checks for package, assembly, and manufacturability compliance.
• Update component documentation in AVL-PDM and Powertrain DB.
• Support lead engineers and project managers during execution.
• Provide technical support for resident engineers.
• Assist in creating documentation for training, knowledge management, and patents.
• Assist AVL internal procurement via information exchange with customers/suppliers.

TheDesign Engineeris responsible for creating and managing the design documentation (including technical specifications, Bill of Materials, design guidelines, etc.) for components and assemblies in powertrain systems (and complete vehicles). This job involves developing 3D models, 2D drawings, and ensuring the manufacturability and quality of designs.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creation of 3D models for components and assemblies according to project-related design and CAD guidelines
• Development of 2D-CAD drawings for manufacturing based on valid standards and latest production technologies
• Continuous data quality and plausibility checks, and data exchange with internal departments and external partners
• Regular design checks to ensure compliance with package boundaries, assembly processes, and manufacturability
• Maintenance and updating of component documentation in the AVL-PDM System and AVL Powertrain Database
• Support for lead engineers and project managers during project execution.
• Technical support for resident engineers
• Assistance in creating documentation for training, knowledge management, and patents
• Support for AVL internal part procurement through information exchange with customers and suppliers

YOUR PROFILE:
