Job summary

Evotec is seeking a Head of Oncology in Italy to shape and execute the R&D strategy in the oncology space and lead strategic partnerships. You will guide cross-functional efforts across Evotec sites to build a differentiated cancer pipeline and position Evotec as a leader in oncology.

The role requires a PhD in life sciences and several years of cancer biology drug discovery experience, with strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive global initiatives.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in molecular biology/biochemistry or similar life science subject.
• Several years of cancer biology expertise in drug discovery and development.
• Solid understanding of pharma R&D value chain and oncology expertise.
• Experience from target ID to IND filing, including translational science.
• Strong leader and organizer of cross-departmental and multi-site activities.
• Excellent leadership, networking and project management skills.
• Very strong communicator.

Responsibilities

• Shape and execute the oncology R&D strategy and lead strategic partnerships.
• Lead strategic collaborations and provide oncology drug discovery expertise to broaden the pipeline.
• Manage the Oncology R&D team and Evotec’s core oncology programs.
• Drive development of Innovate Oncology platforms with strong commercial potential.
• Oversee budget for internal oncology asset development.
• Provide disease know-how to support internal R&D efforts in oncology.
• Establish relationships with collaborators to ensure projects progress.
• Set aligned goals for team members and foster growth.
• Collaborate across functions at different Evotec sites to ensure delivery.
• Represent Evotec at scientific conferences and external events.
