Job summary

Belmond is seeking a senior leader to head the Engineering & Maintenance division for 13 hotels in Southern Europe, driving reliability, safety and guest satisfaction. You will oversee maintenance programs, renovations, and CapEx projects while respecting heritage properties and advancing sustainability.

You will coach hotel Directors of Engineering, partner with Design & Construction, engage external contractors, and ensure energy efficiency and regulatory compliance across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a senior engineering leadership role in hospitality.
• Proven track record managing large-scale renovations and CapEx projects.
• Deep knowledge of hotel engineering installations and fire protection systems.
• Experience with LEED/BREEAM/EarthCheck and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering aspects of major renovations and capital expenditure projects from concept to completion
• Oversee commissioning and collaborate with Design & Construction to meet specs, budgets, timelines
• Provide leadership to Directors of Engineering and maintenance teams for safety and proactive maintenance
• Conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance across properties
• Develop and manage divisional CapEx and OpEx budgets with cost controls
• Drive energy optimization and integrate sustainable technologies
• Establish vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts
• Mentor the Maintenance team to drive continuous improvement
• Ensure adherence to Belmond standards and regulatory requirements
