Job summary

Belmond is seeking a Senior Engineering & Maintenance leader to head the division across 13 hotels in Southern Europe. You will drive operational excellence, safety, and guest satisfaction while overseeing CapEx projects and energy optimization.

You will coach hotel Directors of Engineering, collaborate with Design & Construction, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with heritage requirements and Belmond standards across properties.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Proven track record managing large-scale new construction and renovation projects.
• Deep knowledge of hotel engineering installations (electric, heating, cooling, plumbing, HVAC, lifts) and fire protection systems.
• Fluency in English; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in luxury hotel operations and sustainable practices (LEED/BREEAM/EarthCheck).
• Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering aspects of major renovations and CapEx projects from concept to completion.
• Oversee commissioning and ensure engineering specifications, budgets, and timelines are met.
• Provide leadership to Directors of Engineering and their teams to foster safety and proactive maintenance.
• Conduct regular property visits and audits to assess performance and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and manage divisional budgets (CapEx and OpEx) with cost controls.
• Drive energy optimization initiatives and integrate sustainable technologies.
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships; negotiate contracts for services and equipment.
• Mentor and develop the Engineering & Maintenance team for continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to Belmond standards and regulatory requirements across properties.
