Rome International School in Rome seeks a motivated Biology Teacher to join our team, delivering outstanding IB Biology classes and maintaining high student performance across teaching, learning and assessment.

You'll collaborate with the High School Leadership Team and colleagues in Scientific and Student Support to support the school's growth, while planning, recording, assessing and reporting to meet diverse learner needs.

We are now seeking a motivated and qualified Biology Teacher to join our Rome International School team.

The ideal candidate will contribute to wider success by teaching outstanding IB Biology classes and sustaining student performance in terms of teaching, learning, and evaluation.

Working with the High School Leadership Team and other colleagues in the Scientific and Student Support teams, you will contribute to RISROME ongoing success and growth through your excellent classroom practice, positive, collaborative, can do attitude and willingness to support the wider life of the school.

You will promote the mission and vision of the school, ensuring that students are working towards being global citizens who can shape the world. You will ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting are of the highest quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students. You will be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development and growth.

Responsibilities/duties

Planning and Preparation:

• Prepare short, medium and long term plans as required;
• Teach High School as per your timetable or cover timetable;
• Demonstrate extensive understanding of subject content and its prerequisite relationships and connections with other disciplines;
• Use knowledge of students' backgrounds, skills, needs and interests to plan for groups of students;
• Plan classes and units with aims/outcomes offering valuable learning which are suitable for all students in the classroom.
• Demonstrate effective time and resource management;
• Plan collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the curriculum is integrated, broad and balanced;
• Systematically and supportively set and mark homework, integrated with class work & tailored to individual needs;
• Be familiar with student IILPs and be actively involved in the writing, assessing, and monitoring of student goals;
• Plan for student assessment in alignment with the aims/outcomes, with clear assessment criteria & standards that have been communicated to students.

Teaching and learning

• Teach a subject area, developing a stimulating and challenging learning environment which secures effective learning and provides high standards of achievement, behaviour and discipline;
• Work with the DSL and Well-being Leader to take responsibility for the pastoral care of students in accordance with school policies;
• Support the Middle and High School Principal in monitoring the quality of teaching and students' achievement and in developing links with parents of students and participating in school events.

Skills:

• Experience teaching the IB and IGCSE programs;
• Experience in International Education;
• Experience of maximizing the academic and personal achievement of students;
• Demonstrates a vision of the Science and ESS Curriculum and has the ability to manage change to reach desired goals;
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders and to differentiate instruction for all learners;
• Willingness to be an active partecipant in our collaborative process;
• Proven ability to develop and deliver successful academic programs;
• Willingness to work in a multicultural environment.

Qualifications

• Native Speaker level in written and spoken English;
• High level of communication, teaching and presentation skills;
• Master degree in Biology/Science or equipollent (preferred);
• Teaching certification;
• Experience with IB Biology required;
• Experience with pastoral care preferred;
• Ability to differentiate lessons to a variety of learning styles and ability levels;
• High level of time management skills;
• Ability to maintain appropriate standards of discipline in classroom;
• Ability to show initiative and contribute to the mission and vision of the school.
