Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a proactive freight forwarding professional to lead the import department in Italy. You will oversee daily operations, optimise processes, and ensure service levels across shipments of medicines, toys and machine parts, helping customers meet their promises.

You'll manage a team, coordinate cross-functional partners, and drive efficiency through continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and company policies.

• 1–3 years of air logistics experience.

How you create impact

• Lead and oversee the daily operations of the import department, ensuring smooth execution of all activities and achievement of service level targets.
• Manage team performance, workforce planning, resource allocation, and operational KPIs to drive productivity, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Act as the primary escalation point for customers and internal stakeholders, resolving complex operational issues and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, including Operational Care, Customer Care, Revenue Care, Customs, and Transportation partners, to ensure timely and accurate shipment execution.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with airlines, carriers, gateways, and external service providers to secure capacity, optimise transport solutions, and manage supplier performance.
• Drive operational efficiency and cost optimisation through process improvements, automation tools, consolidation strategies, route planning, and continuous review of transportation solutions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, international trade regulations, customs requirements, quality standards, and health, safety, security, and environmental guidelines.
• Partner with senior management to develop and execute departmental strategies, monitor operational performance, and address risks, disputes, and service deviations proactively.

• At least 1-3 years of experience in air logistics.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, combined with adaptability and a performance-driven mindset.
• Solid knowledge of freight forwarding, air logistics operations and import regulations.
• Fluency in English and Italian.
