Reply is seeking an AI‑Powered Software Engineer to design and develop scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices. You will own components across the full development lifecycle, shaping AI-assisted development practices and collaborating with cross‑functional teams in an international environment.

The role emphasizes hands‑on coding with AI copilots, modern DevOps workflows, and technologies like Docker/Kubernetes, REST, and CI/CD.

Competenze

WHAT YOU WILL FIND

• Core activities. You will design and develop scalable and resilient applications based on microservices architectures, contributing to the whole development lifecycle: analysis, design, implementation, testing and release. In this role, you will build large and complex backend systems and multichannel solutions, following and shaping development processes such as TDD, code reviews and DevOps guidelines. GitHub Copilot will be an everyday part of how you engineer: scaffolding services and REST endpoints, refactoring existing code, generating unit and integration tests and speeding up reviews and documentation.
• Tech & tools stack. You will work with Java, Spring Boot, REST and event-driven integrations, Maven. Containerisation and orchestration run on Docker and Kubernetes, pipelines on Jenkins and GitHub Actions.. GitHub Copilot is integrated into your daily coding workflow as an AI pair-programmer, across development, test generation and code review.
• Team work. You will work in an Agile, cross-functional and international environment, collaborating closely with software engineers, architects, QA engineers and DevOps specialists, and interacting directly with highly skilled customer technicians to design solutions for the market. You will also coach and mentor other engineers and help define a shared, evolving standard of AI-assisted development practices across projects.

WHAT WE NEED

• Academic background.We are seeking engineers with excellent academic achievements. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Technical & strategic skills.Experience with Java, Spring, microservice architecture patterns, software engineering fundamentals, REST APIs, Docker/Kubernetes, continuous delivery and automated testing, critical use of AI coding assistants like Copilot. Good command of English in an international working environment.
• Soft skills. Curiosity and a real interest in emerging technologies, with the drive to experiment, build POCs and bring new ideas into the team. Strong problem-solving attitude, ownership and attention to quality. Excellent communication skills, both within the team and directly with customer stakeholders, and the willingness to share knowledge and mentor colleagues.
• Nice to have. Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm) or observability tools (Grafana, ELK). Exposure to prompt engineering, AI agents or the integration of LLM-based services into business applications. Experience in solving and troubleshooting highly complex technical problems

The compensation package will be determined based on your professional background, technical skills, expertise, and the level of responsibility associated with the role. The collective labour agreement (CCNL) mainly applied within Reply is the Italian Metalworking Industry Agreement. The job classification will be assessed starting from level B1, and the gross annual salary (RAL) will range from €31,000 to €38,500.
