Job summary

Alike Thoughts is seeking a seasoned Server Administration specialist to join our Chennai team. The role focuses on Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) and Level 2 support, with escalation to L3 when required.

The candidate will apply security patches, diagnose performance issues, and administer Linux servers while maintaining system hardening and patching routines. Exposure to VMware/Hyper-V, Azure/AWS cloud, backup solutions (Commvault), and monitoring (SCOM) is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Level 2 server support.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Experience with backup tools (Commvault) and monitoring (SCOM).
• Linux administration including RedHat/CentOS/Oracle Linux and server hardening.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 support for server-related issues and escalate to L3 when needed.
• Apply security patches and updates to keep systems protected.
• Diagnose and resolve system performance issues across hardware, software, and network layers.
• Administer Linux servers (RedHat/CentOS/Oracle Linux) and perform server hardening, patching, and filesystem tasks.
• Monitor disk space, CPU, and memory utilization to maintain performance.
• Maintain familiarity with networking concepts and general operational tasks.

Role & responsibilities

Proficiency with Windows Server 2016 2019 2022

Provide Level 2 support for server related issues escalating complex problems to L3 or specialized teams when necessary

Apply security patches and updates to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities

Diagnose and resolve system performance issues including hardware software and network related problems

Good knowledge of Active Directory Group Policy and PowerShell scripting

Familiarity with virtualization technologies eg VMware Hyper V

Familiarity with Cloud technologies eg Azure AWS

Experience with backup tools eg Commvault and monitoring tool eg SCOM

Basic understanding of networking concepts

Administration of RedHat Linux Cent OS and Oracle Linux Servers

Handling Linux OS activities like server hardening Patching file system extension
