Job summary

ASM Technologies Limited in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Windows Server Administrator to join a 24x7 IT operations team. You will provide L1 monitoring and initial troubleshooting for Windows Server environments and help ensure uptime across the infrastructure.

The role requires hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 13 years of experience in Windows Server/System Administration or IT Infrastructure Support.
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019.
• Basic understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Exposure to VMware or Hyper-V virtualization environments is preferred.
• Basic understanding of backup and recovery concepts.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide L1 monitoring and support for Windows servers and systems in a 24x7 IT infrastructure environment.
• Monitor server health, availability, performance, alerts, and critical system processes.
• Perform initial troubleshooting and resolution of Windows server-related incidents and service requests.
• Monitor and respond to alerts related to CPU, memory, disk space, services, network connectivity, and system availability.
• Perform basic administration and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2016/2019 environments.
• Perform basic user and computer account management in Active Directory.
• Assist with Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP related operational activities.
• Perform routine server checks and ensure systems are operating as per defined standards and procedures.
• Monitor backup jobs and escalates backup failures or issues to the appropriate L2/L3 teams.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of VMware/Hyper-V virtual machines and escalates complex issues to the virtualization team.
• Follow defined Incident Management, Change Management, and Escalation procedures.
• Ensure timely escalation of unresolved or critical incidents to L2/L3 teams.
• Perform routine patching and update-related activities as per approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate incident records, shift handover reports, and technical documentation.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, and operational guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams and other support teams for issue resolution.
• Participate in 24x7 rotational shift support as required.
• Ensure proper shift handover and communication of pending/critical issues.
• Adhere to organizational security, compliance, and IT service management processes.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of backup and recovery concepts.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow defined processes and SOPs.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSA, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server-related certifications, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
