Job summary

The Pharma Patashala in Hyderabad is seeking a PI R&D Chemist to perform chemical synthesis of API molecules, develop and scale up routes, and maintain precise records. You will collaborate with Analytical R&D, PD, Production, QA, and QC teams to drive efficient, compliant processes.

Responsibilities include handling reactions, purification, and transfer of processes to pilot and commercial manufacturing, while ensuring GLP/GMP/EHS adherence and safety in the lab.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Organic Chemistry and API synthesis.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory glassware and synthesis equipment.
• Knowledge of reaction mechanisms and process optimization.
• Basic understanding of analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, LCMS, NMR, IR).
• Documentation skills and technical report writing.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with GLP, GMP, EHS, and SOP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Handle reactions, work-up, purification, crystallization, distillation, and drying operations.
• Prepare reaction schemes, batch records, and technical reports.
• Analyze reaction samples using analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, TLC, and NMR (basic interpretation).
• Troubleshoot process-related issues and improve reaction yield, purity, and productivity.
• Transfer developed processes from laboratory scale to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
• Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, EHS, and company SOPs.
• Handle chemicals safely and dispose of laboratory waste according to safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with Analytical R&D, Process Development (PD), Production, QA, and QC teams.
• Participate in technology transfer (Tech Transfer) activities.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and documentation.
• Support process validation and qualification activities when required.
