Job description

The Process R and D Chemist will be responsible for supporting process research and development activities, route development, lab trials, process optimization, scale-up support, documentation, and analytical coordination. This requires B.Sc or M.Sc qualification with 0–10 years of experience, knowledge of organic chemistry, reaction handling, laboratory safety, data recording, and pharmaceutical process development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments for API process development and optimization.
• Support route selection, reaction screening, purification, crystallization, and process improvement studies.
• Handle chemicals, solvents, reagents, and intermediates safely as per lab protocols.
• Record experimental observations, reaction conditions, yields, and analytical results accurately.
• Coordinate with analytical teams for sample submission, result review, and impurity profiling.
• Prepare laboratory notebooks, development reports, process documents, and trial summaries.
• Support scale-up, technology transfer, and plant trial activities when required.
• Review literature, patents, reference processes, and scientific data for development support.
• Follow GLP, GMP, safety, waste disposal, and data integrity practices.
• Report failed reactions, abnormal observations, impurity issues, or safety risks to seniors.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of process R&D laboratory areas.
• Support preparation of process flow, reaction schemes, and technical documents.
• Coordinate with production, QA, QC, TSD, and regulatory teams for project requirements.
• Help improve yield, quality, cost, robustness, and scalability of processes.
• Contribute to timely and scientifically sound process R&D project execution.
