Job description

A Procurement Manager in solar panel installation with expertise in purchasing PV modules, transformers, and HT/LT panels leads end-to-end supply chain operations. They manage vendor selection, cost optimization, and technical compliance for electrical infrastructure, ensuring timely material delivery to match project execution milestones.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management. An MBA in Operations or Supply Chain is preferred.
• Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands-on technical purchasing experience in Solar power plants, electrical line transmission, worked in transformers LT/HT electrical, power, or electrical infrastructure projects.
• Domain Knowledge: Deep familiarity with technical specifications and quality parameters for solar PV modules, power/distribution transformers, and HT/LT switchgear panels.
• Soft Skills: Proficient in ERP/procurement software, strong price negotiation, data analytics, and cross-functional team coordination.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Sourcing & Vendor Management

• Identify, audit, and onboard tier-1 OEMs and reliable suppliers for solar panels, transformers, and HT/LT panels.
• Build a robust database of approved vendors and maintain long‑term rate contracts.
• Monitor vendor performance metrics regarding delivery timelines, quality compliance, and after‑sales support.

Purchasing & Commercial Negotiation

• Float Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and prepare detailed techno-commercial comparative statements.
• Negotiate pricing, robust warranty terms, and favorable milestone-based payment structures.
• Finalize and issue legally compliant Purchase Orders (POs) aligned with project budgets.

Technical Evaluation & Quality Control

• Review technical datasheets, Bill of Materials (BOM), and single-line diagrams (SLD) for panels and electrical gear.
• Coordinate and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) or third-party inspections for heavy equipment like transformers and HT panels.
• Ensure all purchased electrical items adhere to national and international standards (IEC, IS, CEA).

Logistics & Project Coordination

• Align procurement plans tightly with the master project schedule and construction teams.
• Manage inbound and outbound logistics, transit insurance, and safe delivery of fragile or heavy apparatus to site.
• Track inventory thresholds and collaborate with finance and site stores to prevent project delays
