Job summary

Cloudxtreme seeks an experienced virtualization engineer to monitor and manage VMware, Nutanix, and related hypervisors. The role includes incident handling, backups, patch verification, and hybrid cloud infrastructure tasks.

You will work on complex VM environments, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to automation and service improvement in a 24/7 rotation.

Qualifications

• Experience in virtualization infrastructure administration.
• Exposure to VMware, Nutanix, and hypervisors.
• Understanding of monitoring tools and incident logging in ITSM.
• Familiarity with backup and patch verification.
• Knowledge of hybrid cloud concepts and CI/HC architecture.

Responsibilities

• Monitor VMs, hypervisors, and endpoints using monitoring tools.
• Respond to alerts, restart services, log incidents in ITSM.
• Troubleshoot VM provisioning failures, disk space, and access errors.
• Manage virtualization resources and provide user support (passwords, access).

Role & responsibilities

Primary skillset: Virtualization (Nutanix is added advantage)

Level : SA only but A level also we can work only immediate joiners

Shift : 24/7 Rotational

Level : CWR SA Level (5.5 + Relevant is mandatory)

Notice Period : Immediate Joiner or less than 30 days (No – 60 or 90 days)

L1 Responsibilities:

System Health Monitoring

Monitor virtual machines (VMs), hypervisors (VMware, Nutanix), and endpoints using a monitoring tool.

Basic understanding of Performance graphs.

Alert Management

Respond to alerts, restart failed services, and log incidents in ITSM platforms

Basic Troubleshooting

Execute SOPs for VM provisioning failures, disk space issues, and access errors.

Well versed with

User Support

Handle password resets, access provisioning, and basic VM lifecycle requests

Backup & Patch Verification

Confirm backup completion (Commvault) and patch status using SCCM or Ansible

L2/L3 Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Administration

Configure and manage hypervisors, virtual networks, and storage systems across cloud and on-prem platforms.

Should be well versed with hybrid cloud concepts.

Solid understanding of VCF product suites/

Configure Vmware distributed switch, Standard switch. Good understanding of network services like TCP/IP, Port channels.

Configure SAN storage and knowledge of various storage protocols like FC, ISCSI, NAS

Solid understanding of CI / HCI concepts like v SAN, Nutanix AOS, Cisco UCS, HP synergy.

Strong experience with Nutanix HCI, Prism Central, and Prism Element.

Should be well versed with Disaster recovery concepts and tools like SRM, Zerto

Should be well versed with various hardware platforms like Cisco UCS, HP, Dell, Hitachi, Super micro, Lenovo.

Should be well versed with hardware concepts like HBA, NICS and should have exposure to real world data center environment.

Should have worked on datacenter infrastructure with a solid understanding of environmental factors like cooling, rack spacing, DC floor management.

Performance Tuning, Troubleshooting & RCA

Analyse VM performance, conduct root cause analysis, and optimize resource allocation

Solid understanding of VMware HA / DRS concepts.

Strong understanding of performance aspects like memory reclamation techniques (TPS, Ballooning, swap, compression)

Strong understanding of Intel processor architecture and SMP systems including intel HT, VMware EVC, NUMA concepts.

Must be able to interpret various types of ESXi / Vcenter logs & Performance graphs.

Troubleshoot VMware-ESX related incidents.

• Deep knowledge of and experience with VMware vSphere, vRA and component services such as vMotion, HA, DRS, vDS, Affinity rules, vCenter, storage vMotion.

Extensive knowledge of configuring VMWare ESX/vCenter infrastructure.

Hands on experience with ESXI and vCenter Update / Upgrade / Migration activity.

VMware administration is responsible for configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and overall support of multiple VMware environments.

Setup, install, configure, and triage ESXi Hosts (Rack Mount and Blade Servers).

Knowledge of VMware to include vCenter, vSphere, and ESX 6.x. Solid

Diagnose and resolve issues using Prism, NCC, and log analysis

Troubleshoot storage path failures, network bottlenecks, and hypervisor-level issues.

Automation & DevOps

Use Power CLI, vRealise suite of products to automate day to day tasks.

Security & Compliance

Manage SSL/TLS certificates, firewall rules, and audit configurations for virtual environments.

Solid understanding of ESXI security hardening in compliance with industry regulations.

Platform Engineering & Transformation

Support cloud migration, image management and implement self-healing automation

Actively Participate & contribute in engineering discussions and decision-making.

Be well versed with virtualization and CI / HCI architecture.

Service Improvement & Knowledge Management

Enrich KEDB, implement service improvement plans, and transfer repeatable tasks to L1.5 teams.

Should be well versed with ITIL process like incident, change & problem management

Compliance & Audit Readiness

Ensure platform follows Compliance requirements and Audit Readiness

Lead and manage virtualization operations and ensure service delivery excellence.

Oversee incidents, problems, change, and configuration management processes.

Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives in virtualization.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and policy standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
