Job summary

3i Infotech is seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer for a 2-month freelance engagement at Churchgate, Mumbai. The role focuses on managing and optimizing enterprise virtualization environments including VMware, Nutanix, NSX-T, and VCF.

You will handle major incidents, capacity planning, patching, migrations, DR drills, vulnerability remediation, automation, and infrastructure documentation, ensuring stable and scalable virtualization infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience as a virtualization engineer with strong VMware/Nutanix NSX-T know-how.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Virtualization Engineer with strong expertise in VMware, Nutanix, NSX-T, VCF, virtualization infrastructure, and data center technologies. The candidate will be responsible for managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing enterprise virtualization environments, including VMware and Nutanix platforms.

The role involves handling Major Incidents, capacity planning, performance management, patching, migrations, DR drills, vulnerability remediation, automation, and infrastructure documentation.

Key Responsibilities

VMware Virtualization

• Administration and management of VMware vCenter, ESXi, VCF, SDDC Manager, VMware Platform Services Controller (PSC), vSAN, vRealize Operations Manager, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Automation, Update Manager, and Skyline.
• Manage VMware clusters, HA, DRS, affinity/anti-affinity rules, resource allocation, and VM lifecycle.
• Perform P2V and V2V migrations and manage VMware Replication.
• Monitor and manage datastores and perform Storage vMotion (SvMotion).
• Maintain VMware Tools and VM hardware versions.
• Perform hypervisor patching, upgrades, configuration changes, and resource provisioning.
• Troubleshoot VMware infrastructure and analyze logs for incident resolution.
• Rebuild hypervisor servers in response to major incidents.
• Configure and monitor hypervisor alarms and performance parameters.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization.

Nutanix Administration

• Administration of Nutanix AOS, AHV, CVM, Prism Element, Prism Central/Prism Pro, Objects, Calm, Flow, and ERA.
• Manage Nutanix clusters, VMs, resources, configurations, and lifecycle operations.
• Maintain and upgrade Nutanix VirtIO versions.
• Perform troubleshooting, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and configuration assessment.
• Develop and maintain Nutanix CALM Blueprints for automation.
• Support Nutanix Flow and other virtualization/networking components.

VMware NSX-T & Networking

• Manage NSX Manager, Edge Nodes, NSX-T networking, and security components.
• Design, configure, and support virtual networking using VXLAN/overlay technologies.
• Configure and monitor NSX security layers.
• Manage NSX-T backups and perform recovery activities.
• Create and manage virtual load balancers.
• Hands-on experience with NSX-T Advanced Load Balancer (AVI).
• Improve network scalability, availability, and manageability.
• Support automation using NSX, vRA, vRO, and vRNI.

Monitoring & Performance Management

• Monitor virtualization infrastructure using:
• BMC TSOM
• Dynatrace
• Grafana
• VMware vROps
• vRNI
• vRealize Log Insight (VRLI)
• Skyline
• Nutanix Prism Element
• Nutanix Prism Central
• Review hypervisor and VM performance and identify recurring performance issues.
• Configure monitoring parameters, alerts, and thresholds.
• Perform capacity and availability management.
• Analyze recurring incidents and alerts and implement preventive measures.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

• Handle L1/L2/L3 virtualization infrastructure incidents, including major incidents.
• Perform root-cause analysis and prepare RCA reports for major incidents.
• Conduct repeat incident and alert analysis.
• Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Develop service improvement plans and implement continual service improvements.
• Perform risk analysis and prepare mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with OEM/vendor teams for performance tuning and technical issues.

DR, Patch & Infrastructure Management

• Plan and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) drills based on available DR infrastructure and recovery procedures.
• Perform minor and major infrastructure updates/upgrades.
• Install and manage hypervisor patches.
• Conduct configuration and vulnerability assessments and ensure timely closure of identified vulnerabilities.
• Maintain availability and capacity management documentation.
• Maintain infrastructure AS-IS documents, SOPs, Knowledge Base (KBase), and technical documentation.

Automation

• Manage VMware automation workflows.
• Create and modify automation workflows using vRA/vRO.
• Develop and maintain Nutanix CALM Blueprints.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive infrastructure operations and simplify administrative tasks.
