Job summary

Rithwik Projects Private Limited is seeking a seasoned Planning professional to lead the Planning & Project Monitoring function for a Hydro Electric and RCC Dam project. You will develop the Master Project Schedule spanning engineering, procurement, construction and handover.

This role requires coordinating with civil, hydro-mechanical, electrical teams; monitoring progress, preparing dashboards and KPI reports; identifying delays, risks and recovery plans to ensure milestones are met on time,

Responsibilities

• Lead overall planning and project-control activities for the Hydro Electric and RCC Dam project.
• Develop detailed Level-1 to Level-4 schedules and monitor progress against baselines.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and QA/QC teams.
• Prepare dashboards, S-curves, progress reports and KPI metrics.
• Identify delays, bottlenecks and implement recovery / mitigation plans.
• Lead planning meetings with contractors and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Overall Project Planning

• Lead and manage the overall planning function for the Hydro Electric and RCC Dam Project.
• Develop the Master Project Schedule covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Establish project milestones, key activities, priorities and target completion dates.

Construction Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare detailed Level-1, Level-2, Level-3 and Level-4 schedules as required.
• Develop detailed construction schedules for RCC dam, diversion works, excavation, foundation treatment, spillway, intake, power house, tunnels, roads and other associated works.
• Plan work sequences and identify critical activities affecting project completion.

RCC Dam Planning

• Monitor RCC placement schedules, lift-wise construction planning and concrete production requirements.
• Coordinate planning for batching plants, crushing plants, aggregate production, material handling and concrete transportation.
• Plan foundation excavation, dental concrete, grouting, drainage and other dam-related activities.

Hydro Power Project Planning

• Coordinate planning for head race tunnels, pressure shafts, surge shafts, tailrace tunnels, powerhouse, switchyard and associated structures.
• Monitor interface activities between civil, hydro-mechanical, electrical and other packages.

Progress Monitoring

• Monitor actual progress against approved baseline schedules.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Analyze planned vs. actual progress and identify delays, bottlenecks and productivity issues.
• Establish corrective and recovery plans for delayed activities.

Critical Path & Delay Management

• Identify and continuously monitor the Critical Path / Critical Activities.
• Conduct delay analysis and assess the impact of delays on project milestones.
• Prepare mitigation, acceleration and recovery schedules.
• Maintain records for delay analysis and extension-of-time (EOT) requirements.

Resource Planning

• Prepare manpower, equipment, material and productivity plans based on project requirements.
• Monitor deployment and utilization of major construction equipment.
• Identify resource shortages and coordinate corrective actions with project management.

Engineering & Procurement Coordination

• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Contracts, Construction and Project teams to ensure timely availability of drawings, materials and equipment.
• Integrate engineering and procurement schedules with the construction programme.
• Track long-lead items and critical procurement activities.

Contractor & Subcontractor Monitoring

• Review contractors' detailed work programmes and baseline schedules.
• Monitor contractor performance against contractual milestones.
• Review monthly programmes, resource plans and recovery schedules submitted by contractors.
• Coordinate planning meetings with contractors and subcontractors.

Project Review & MIS

• Lead weekly and monthly project review meetings.
• Prepare management dashboards, S-curves, progress charts and KPI reports.
• Present project status, key risks, delays and recovery measures to Project Head / Management.
• Maintain comprehensive planning and progress documentation.

Cost & Quantity Monitoring

• Coordinate with Commercial/Contracts and Quantity Surveying teams for planned vs. executed quantities.
• Monitor progress-linked cost and productivity indicators.
• Support forecasting of project completion requirements and cash-flow planning.

Risk & Interface Management

• Identify planning-related project risks and develop mitigation measures.
• Monitor interfaces between civil, electrical, hydro-mechanical, tunnelling and other project packages.
• Ensure that interdependent activities are properly synchronized.

Planning Systems & Tools

• Establish standardized planning and monitoring systems across the project.
• Ensure effective use of Primavera P6 / MS Project / Excel / Power BI or other project-control tools.
• Maintain updated baseline, target and revised schedules.

Management Reporting

• Provide accurate and timely project information to the Project Head and Corporate/Head Office.
• Prepare Executive Summary, S-Curve, Look-Ahead Plans, Milestone Reports, Delay Reports and Recovery Plans.
• Highlight major deviations and recommend management actions.

Team Leadership

• Lead and guide the Planning & Project Monitoring team.
• Allocate responsibilities among planning engineers and project control personnel.
• Develop planning procedures, reporting standards and team performance requirements.
• Coordinate closely with Construction, Engineering, Contracts, Procurement, QA/QC, Safety and Finance departments.

Overall Objective:

To ensure timely and coordinated execution of the Hydro Electric and RCC Dam Project by establishing effective planning, monitoring progress against approved targets, identifying delays and risks at an early stage, and implementing appropriate recovery measures to achieve project milestones within the approved time, cost and quality parameters.
