Job summary

SJ Contracts Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Planning Engineer to develop, monitor, and control project schedules, resources, and progress at a project site. You will ensure effective planning, track performance, identify delays, and support teams in achieving milestones within budgets.

The role requires 3+ years in construction planning, proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project, and strong communication. Reports to Project Manager / Planning Manager; on-site location in India.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering is required; PG in Construction Management preferred.
• Experience of 3+ years in project planning and scheduling for construction projects.
• Experience in high-rise residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare baseline project schedules, WBS, and project execution plans.
• Develop detailed construction programs, resource plans, and milestone schedules.
• Establish project timelines in coordination with project teams and stakeholders.
• Update and maintain project schedules regularly.
• Monitor progress against schedules and identify deviations.
• Analyze performance and recommend corrective actions to recover delays.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules and recovery plans where required.
• Prepare manpower, equipment, and material requirement schedules.
• Monitor resource utilization and productivity.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure optimum deployment of resources.
• Support resource forecasting and allocation planning.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and MIS reports.
• Generate schedule variance, productivity, and performance analysis reports.
• Present project status updates to management and stakeholders.
• Maintain project documentation related to planning and controls.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors.
• Participate in planning and progress review meetings.
• Support cross-functional teams to meet objectives.
• Ensure alignment of activities with schedules.
• Assist in project cost monitoring and forecasting.
• Identify schedule risks and mitigation strategies.
• Support recovery plans for delayed activities.
• Monitor project constraints and provide planning solutions.
• Maintain planning records, schedules, reports, and project control documentation.
• Ensure adherence to procedures and planning standards.
• Support claims, EOT, and project closure documentation.

The role is responsible for ensuring effective planning, tracking project performance, identifying potential delays, and supporting project teams in achieving project milestones within approved timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare baseline project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and project execution plans.
• Develop detailed construction programs, resource plans, and milestone schedules.
• Establish project timelines in coordination with project teams and stakeholders.
• Update and maintain project schedules regularly.

Progress Monitoring & Control

• Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify deviations.
• Analyze project performance and recommend corrective actions to recover delays.
• Track critical activities and monitor project milestones.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules and recovery plans where required.

Resource Planning

• Prepare manpower, equipment, and material requirement schedules.
• Monitor resource utilization and productivity.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure optimum deployment of resources.
• Support resource forecasting and allocation planning.

Project Reporting
