Role: Purchase Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, commercially driven, and detail-oriented Purchase Manager to manage the organizations procurement activities. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in the food manufacturing industry, strong vendor management and negotiation skills, and hands-on experience with SAP Business One. The role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, engineering spares, consumables, and other indirect purchases while maintaining optimum inventory levels and supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for the organization.
- Source, evaluate, and develop new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
- Procure raw materials, packaging materials, engineering spares, maintenance items, consumables, and indirect materials.
- Create and manage Purchase Requests (PR), Purchase Orders (PO), Goods Receipt POs (GRPO), and procurement documentation in SAP Business One.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Logistics teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement procurement plans to prevent stock shortages or excess inventory.
- Prepare comparative statements, supplier evaluations, and cost analyses for management review.
- Track supplier performance with respect to quality, delivery, pricing, and service levels.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, alternate sourcing, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and vendor documentation.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports and present purchasing performance metrics to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- MBA or Diploma in Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Min 5–10 years of proven experience in Procurement or Purchase Management within the food manufacturing industry.
- Candidates with prior experience in the flour milling industry will be given strong preference.
- Hands-on experience in procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, engineering spares, consumables, and indirect purchases for a manufacturing facility.
- Mandatory working knowledge of SAP Business One, including Purchase Requests (PR), Purchase Orders (PO), Goods Receipt PO (GRPO), vendor management, and procurement reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor development, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, and inventory planning.
- Experience working closely with Production, Stores, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have experience in the flour milling industry and possess a strong understanding of procurement processes within a manufacturing environment. Candidates from
wheat flour, grain processing, food ingredients, FMCG, or other food manufacturing sectors are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in:
Procurement of wheat, flour milling ingredients, packaging materials (PP bags, laminates, cartons, labels), engineering spares, and plant consumables.
Working in a manufacturing environment using SAP Business One.
Developing strategic supplier relationships and delivering measurable cost savings through effective negotiations.
Coordinating cross-functionally with Production, Stores, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Logistics teams.
