Job summary

Calpro Specialities in Haryana is seeking a procurement professional to manage end-to-end sourcing of packing materials for the food manufacturing business. You will plan material requirements, evaluate vendors, negotiate quotes, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining cost, quality and compliance.

You will collaborate with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, R&D and Finance to meet material needs, optimize inventory, and support cost-saving initiatives in packaging materials.

Qualifications

• Graduate with at least 5 years of relevant experience in procurement for packing materials.

Responsibilities

• Procure primary and secondary packing materials (laminated pouches, cartons, labels, bottles, etc.) and manage supplier relationships.
• Plan material requirements based on production plans and inventory.
• Negotiate quotations, prices, payment terms, MOQ, and lead times.
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders and track deliveries to ensure on-time arrivals.
• Monitor open POs, shortages and delays; coordinate with vendors for closure.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels and avoid stock-outs or excess stock.
• Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, R&D and Finance for material requirements and issue resolution.
• Ensure materials meet approved specifications and quality standards; work with QA for vendor approvals and inspections.
• Develop alternate sources and support long-term procurement agreements; maintain vendor records and documentation.
• Support cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives in packaging materials.

Job Purpose

To manage end-to-end procurement of packing materials for the food manufacturing business, ensuring timely availability, optimum cost, consistent quality, and adherence to approved specifications and inventory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of primary and secondary packing materials such as laminated pouches, printed packaging, cartons, corrugated boxes, labels, tapes, liners, bottles, containers, etc.
• Plan material requirements based on production plans, inventory levels, consumption trends, and business requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for packing materials.
• Obtain quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms, MOQ, lead time, and other commercial terms.
• Prepare and release Purchase Orders and ensure timely delivery as per requirements.
• Monitor open POs, pending deliveries, shortages, and delays and coordinate with vendors for closure.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels while avoiding stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, R&D and Finance for material requirements and issue resolution.
• Ensure purchased packing materials conform to approved specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with Quality/QA for vendor approval, material inspection, rejection, and corrective actions.
• Develop alternate sources and ensure business continuity for critical packing materials.
• Track and analyse purchase prices, consumption, savings, vendor performance, and cost trends.
• Support annual rate contracts and long-term procurement agreements with key suppliers.
• Maintain vendor records, quotations, comparative statements, POs, and procurement documentation.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, food safety requirements, and applicable statutory/regulatory requirements.
• Support cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives related to packaging materials.

Key Skills

• Strong vendor development and negotiation skills.
• Good knowledge of packaging materials used in the food industry.
• Understanding of packaging specifications, GSM, dimensions, material structures, printing, laminates, cartons and corrugated packaging.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills.
• Good knowledge of ERP and MS Excel.
• Strong coordination and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage multiple suppliers and urgent procurement requirements.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.

Educational Qualification

Any graduate with at least 5yras of relevant experience.

Preferred Industry Experience

Candidates from Food & Beverage, Food Ingredients, FMCG, Dairy, Bakery, Food Processing or Packaging industries will be preferred.
