Job summary

Air India Limited in Gurugram seeks a Flight Dispatcher to maintain Operational Control and Flight Watch for all company flights. You will coordinate with pilots, ATC and IOCC to plan routes, maximize safety and efficiency, and support day-of-operation management.

The role requires DGCA-approved dispatch credentials or equivalent, strong weather/NOTAM knowledge, and the ability to lead the dispatcher team during shifts and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
• DGCA approved Flight Dispatcher certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Operational Control and Flight Watch for all company flights.
• Plan and execute optimized flight routes considering NOTAMs, TAFs, METARs and payloads.
• Coordinate with pilots, ATC and IOCC/MCC; ensure safe, compliant day-of-operation management.
• Act as Shift-in-Charge during duties and lead a dispatcher team.
• Communicate risk and mitigate it; brief PIC and provide necessary in-flight information.

A. Job Purpose

• A Flight Dispatcher performs the duties and functions of a Flight Dispatcher, however by his experience gained, his responsibilities and authority are wider in scope.
• Responsible for maintaining Operational Control and Flight Watch on all Company Flights. Ensure seamless day-of-operation coordination within the Full-Service Carrier Dispatcher team, collaborate closely with pilots, air traffic controllers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute flight routes, and coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless flight operations.

B. Key Accountabilities

Functional Activities

• Review and evaluate weather information to determine the most economical route of flight between city pairs.
• Prepare optimized operational flight plans considering NOTAMs, TAFs, and METARs, while computing the RTOW to ensure maximum payloads for all flights within the schedule.
• Select destination alternates based on Dispatch Planning Minima, adhering to company and DGCA guidelines.
• Support, brief, and assist the PIC in assessing risk tolerability for the safe conduct of each flight.
• Furnish the PIC with necessary information during the flight, ensuring assistance in emergencies to guarantee the safe completion of the flight.
• Notify the appropriate ATS unit when the aircrafts position cannot be determined by an aircraft tracking capability and attempts to establish communication are unsuccessful.
• Highlight any potential level of risk for the routes flown and take necessary actions to mitigate risks.
• Act as the Shift-in-Charge during assigned duty shifts, overseeing the smooth operation of the dispatch team.
• Delegate responsibilities within the team and coordinate activities to ensure effective day-of-operation management.

Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.

D. Key Interfaces

Internal Interfaces

• Collaborate with Pilots for any system changes regarding information required during flights.
• Collaborate with other stakeholders within IOCC, such as OCC, MCC, Ground Services and crew scheduling, to ensure that all operations are running smoothly

External Interfaces

• Air Traffic Control (ATC)` Coordination with ATC for route clearances, weather updates, and any changes to the planned flight route.

E. Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree or its Equivalent.
• Current DGCA approved Flight Dispatcher [rated on A320 Family, B737 Family, B787 Family, B777 Family and A350 will be preferred]

Minimum Requirement Desired

Experience

• 0-1 years with Dispatcher Approval with thorough knowledge of Area of International Experience (Asia, Middle East, Far East, Europe, and North America)
• Extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the airline/ airport operation and aviation industry.
• Previous experience running operations for Operators with Large fleet size.
