Job summary

MTC Business in Chennai is seeking a steel trading professional to develop and manage the steel trading business across assigned markets. You will source products from manufacturers, stockists, and suppliers at competitive prices and identify new customers.

You will negotiate prices and terms, monitor market trends, maintain margins, and coordinate with suppliers, logistics, finance, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth order execution and timely collections.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage steel trading business across assigned markets.
• Source steel products from manufacturers, stockists, and suppliers at competitive prices.
• Identify new customers and develop long-term business relationships.
• Handle buying and selling of TMT bars, structural steel, MS plates, coils, sheets, beams, channels, angles, pipes, and other steel products.
• Monitor daily steel market prices, demand, supply, and market trends.
• Negotiate purchase and sales prices, payment terms, freight, and other commercial conditions.
• Maintain healthy trading margins and achieve monthly/annual sales targets.
• Coordinate with suppliers, customers, logistics, finance, and warehouse teams for smooth order execution.
• Generate new business opportunities through market visits, networking, and customer references.
• Manage quotations, purchase orders, sales orders, invoicing, and payment follow-ups.
• Track outstanding payments and ensure timely collections.
• Maintain a strong database of suppliers, customers, and market contacts.
• Prepare regular sales, purchase, margin, and market reports for management.
• Ensure timely delivery and resolve customer/supplier-related issues.
