Job summary

India Coke And Power is seeking an experienced trade operations professional to ensure complete and timely execution of domestic and overseas trade activities. You will handle bulk commodities, verify LC/documents, and coordinate with shipping, port, and banking partners to ensure smooth transactions.

The role requires strong knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP, URDG, ISP98, URC, and Incoterms, with emphasis on accurate documentation and back-to-back contracts.

Qualifications

• Experience handling documentation for trading houses (bulk commodities)
• Experience with LC documentation and bank dealings
• Strong knowledge of shipping, contracts, and trade finance processes

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and timely execution of domestic and overseas trade operations
• Review contracts (CIF, HSS, stock & sales) for terms accuracy and back-to-back vetting
• Coordinate with port operations for shipping readiness and document flow
• Open/Amend letters of credit and prepare opening instructions for LC/FLC
• Prepare delivery orders and liaise with port authorities and customs
• Discrepancy-free document handling and bank negotiations for discounting
• Track payments, receivables, and contract execution through to final payment
• Coordinate with traders, brokers, finance, shipping, CHA, banks, and customers

Job description

Overall Responsibility:

The candidate will be responsible to ensure complete & timely execution of Indian Domestic & Overseas Trade Operations

Bulk Commodities-Coal,Coking Coal,Coke,Iron Ore etc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Candidate should possess excellent knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP, URDG, ISP98 and URC.
• Working knowledge of incoterms, shipping and charter party terms & agreements.
• Checking Contracts (CIF, HSS and Stock & Sales) from supplier / customers to ensure terms agreed are correct, Vetting of purchase and sales contracts and ensure that they are back to back.
• Monitoring the contracts and liaise with the port operations team for readiness for shipping.
• Issuing transport document instructions, ensure that all required documents (bills of lading, certificates of origin, packing lists, invoices, test certificates etc) are received from supplier / shipper in time.
• Opening letters of credit (ILC & FLC) to suppliers and make any amendments required as the contract progresses.
• Preparing letter of credit opening instructions (ILC & FLC) for customers and checking L/C is workable.
• Responsible for close coordination with Port operations and ensuring draft documents from suppliers are met and are as per line with that required for customer side negotiation.
• Responsible for handling discrepancy free documents and negotiation with banks to ensure smooth discounting.
• Responsible for timely preparation /execution of documents from other local & overseas office (customs invoices/ beneficiary certificates and other beneficiary docs as per LC & Country specific requirements).
• Tracking on Payment & Receivables, Executing entire contract through to final payment.
• Monitoring Stock receivables & despatches at warehouses & port plots, Issuing Delivery Orders, liasoning with Port authorities & Customs for smooth discharging of cargo, approving railway indent placements and executing Handling & Stevedoring contracts.
• At all of these stages there will be the need to work closely with Traders, Brokers, vendors, finance team, shipping manager, freight forwarding agents, CHA, Vessel Agents, Stevedore Service Providers, Surveyors & Inspection Agencies, Port & Government Authorities, Customs offices, Railways, Banks and Customers. Orders will vary and can be quite diverse and will range from repeat business to new trial orders and can be fairly straightforward to highly complicated.
• Ability to work under own initiative in a pressure environment.
• Must have strong attention to detail, must be accurate and precise.
• Must possess good knowledge of advanced excel and should be capable of generating MIS and reports for internal management.

Experience:

• Experience of minimum 4-5 years in handling documentation for trading houses (Preferably Bulk Commodities & Bulk Shipments).
• Container Shipment Execution will be added advantage.
• Strong LC documentation and operations background.
• Relevant experience in dealing with trade departments of banks with respect to documentation/ discrepancy resolution/ payment follow ups etc.
