Job summary

Heartstream is seeking a Technical Writer to create detailed user manuals, installation guides, and product specifications for hardware and software in a regulated medical device context.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Product Management and Design to translate complex concepts into clear, user-friendly content, while ensuring accuracy through research and reviews. The role is office-based in Bengaluru, with emphasis on regulatory standards and legacy documentation updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience writing technical documentation for products.
  • Expertise with FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of Illustrator and Microsoft Office; familiarity with content management systems.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry (medical devices) preferred.

  • Maintain and update legacy documentation to reflect product updates.

Your Impact:

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating detailed and comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and product specifications, working under direct supervision. The role works closely with engineering, product management, and design teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content. The role involves conducting in-depth research to ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date, as well as implementing industry best practices to enhance quality.

  • Develops, creates, edits, and revises detailed customer-facing technical documentation, including online help, user manuals, installation guides, administrator guides, service manuals, and product specifications for hardware and software products and services, ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with established standards while working under direct supervision.
  • Maintains and updates legacy documentation in line with product updates, ensuring that all materials reflect the latest features, functionalities, and technical specifications in FrameMaker and MadCap Flare.
  • Conducts in-depth research to understand the functionality, features, and technical aspects of products, ensuring that all documentation is based on accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Implements best practices in technical writing, incorporating industry standards and organizational protocols to enhance the quality and effectiveness of documentation.
  • Ensures that all technical documentation is consistent with brand guidelines, organizational tone, and style, while also meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Validates, tests, reviews and edits new and existing customer documentation for quality.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with cross-functional teams including Localization, Product/Project Management, Engineering, Quality and Regulatory, to produce high-quality and accurate customer documentation that complies with regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Actively participating in project team meetings and estimating the relative size of tasks.
You'll thrive in the role if:
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree.
  • You’ve acquired a minimum of 5 years of experience writing and producing technical documentation for products.
  • Your skills include expertise with Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, along with strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite skills, and content management systems.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry and following mandatory processes (preferably in the medical device industry).
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, with ability to research, interpret, analyze, and write by interpreting technical source information.
  • Ability to prioritize work, balance multiple projects concurrently, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience with or knowledge of localization and its process.
