Job summary

KPMG is seeking a Project Manager to lead planning, tracking and delivery across multiple Advisory Technology projects in a matrix environment. You will craft project artifacts, drive governance, and ensure timely signoffs from stakeholders.

You will define scope, manage changes, and coordinate risk and issue resolution while enabling business benefits realization across client engagements. Strong PM/Agile experience and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required (B.E./B.Tech) with MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of Technical Program Management experience.

Job description

The Project Manager is a key player in managing, tracking, and communicating the progress of projects, and in ensuring the quality delivery of KPMG's Advisory Technology (AT). The Project Manager will be responsible for planning customer specific engagements, managing the business requirements development, review and signoff process, managing the execution of deliverables while controlling scope, executing the change management process when needed, and ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies and project roadblocks. The Project Manager will manage multiple concurrent ATO projects and work with several resources within a matrix environment. From initiation through to completion, the Project Manager will be responsible for the construction, presentation and signoffs of key deliverables such as project kickoff presentations, project plans, regular status reports, risk and issue logs, and working with the appropriate teams on change orders when required. S/he will also facilitate planning sessions at various stages of the project lifecycle.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities
  • Evolve program and project management capabilities, improve delivery of solutions to business clients, and leverage project management knowledge across the Advisory IT organization
  • Establish positive and collaborative relationships with customers and demonstrate a clear understanding of both internal and external customer requirements and measurement criteria
  • Consult with internal customers on project initiation statements, project definition reports, business cases and benefits realization estimates
  • Define project scope; identify, manage & control changes to scope and ensure alignment with product roadmap
  • Develop and manage project operating costs, request budget allocation and reallocations and ensure project & program is within budget; develop and maintain project artifacts (stakeholder analysis and status reporting)
  • Develop work plans and work programs, including estimates and resource requirements; develop and execute behavioral change management plan to ensure user adoption of new systems and processes
  • Develop and maintain project communication plan
  • Incorporate industry best practices, conduct internal and external benchmarking, and establish standards, key measures, and metrics
  • Schedule daily stand ups, scrums, and other relevant meetings
  • Communicate project status and be the project advocate; take responsibility for risk and issue management; integrate and align with other processes and solutions; participate in and facilitate retrospectives/phase reviews to cultivate a learning organization
  • Develop and build relationships with business partners, peers, and managers across external teams (Ex. Governance, Risk and Security) to aid in moving projects and programs forward as needed.
  • Ability to understand the strategic initiatives of the business partner and act as an advocate for their technology initiatives as it relates to the long-term prospects for the firm as a whole
Preferred Qualifications
  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech plus MBA
  • 8+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in planning, and executing multiple medium-scale projects from definition through implementation, involving internal personnel and consultants with the ability to manage one to three medium risk projects concurrently, including multi-phase, multi-track projects
  • Project management/Agile experience that includes application development, package implementation, infrastructure and IT transformation projects
  • Comfortable working within an existing IT project governance framework
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office suite of applications and experience with using project planning tools, ex. MS Project, Planview, Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Knowledge of full SDLC project management/Agile, software development, and infrastructure deployment methodologies and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and best practices
  • Experience building collaborative environments, teaming cultures, and customer service mindset among project teams
  • Strong verbal/written communication, with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority; able to prioritize, delegate and foster the development of high-performance teams to lead/support an environment driven by customer service and team work; strong trouble-shooting and organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to participate in resource planning processes based on defined organizational plans
  • Understanding of Cloud Technologies, preferably Azure, and DevOps a plus
  • Reporting and/or dashboarding experience such as Power BI, Tableau, etc. a plus
