A Neev variety has to prove itself in a farmer's field, in front of other farmers, before a dealer will stock it a second time. You plan those plots, you stand in them on field day, and you bring back the data that decides what we push in that belt next season. Including the data that says a...
What you will do
- Plan and book demonstration plots ahead of kharif and rabi with progressive farmers across western UP and the terai, choosing locations a dealer can realistically bring thirty people to.
- Lay out comparison trials against the hybrid or variety that is actually selling in that belt, not against a convenient one. Honest plot design, honest recording.
- Record crop data at the correct stages: plant stand, days to flowering, disease and pest incidence, lodging, grain yield, and green fodder and multi-cut performance for forage crops such as Neev 4547 Berseem.
- Run farmer field days and crop seminars at flowering and at harvest, in Hindi, with the local sales officer and the dealer.
- Train field sales staff on the agronomy of new and existing varieties: seed rate, spacing, sowing window, irrigation schedule, and the known weaknesses. Especially the weaknesses. A TSO who oversells a variety creates a complaint six months later.
- Investigate technical complaints in the field alongside the sales team. Separate a seed issue from an agronomic or weather issue, document it with photographs, village, sowing date and lot number, and send it to QA in Hisar.
- Write a season-end report to Product and Sales: what performed, where it performed, and what should not be positioned in this belt again.
What you must have
- M.Sc or B.Sc Agriculture.
- 2 to 5 years in field agronomy, product development, demonstrations or technical sales, in seed or crop protection.
- Confidence speaking to 40 to 100 farmers in Hindi. This is most of the job, not a part of it.
- Own two-wheeler, valid driving licence, and willingness to travel across UP and Uttarakhand districts.
- Discipline to record data and photographs on the same day, on your phone.
Nice to have
- Paddy, wheat, mustard or forage crop specialisation.
- Experience in the terai agro-climate.
- Basic statistics for reading trial data.
- Experience preparing technical literature or advisory content in Hindi.
