Job summary

Neev Seeds Pvt. Ltd. Hisar seed testing laboratory is hiring a meticulous tester responsible for drawing representative samples, performing germination tests, and correctly classifying seedlings.

You will keep lot records, release or hold lots, and ensure compliance with internal standards. The role requires careful handwriting, basic Excel use, and timely communication to Production. Occasional travel to GOT plots and processing areas is expected, with Monday–Saturday duties and peak hours

Qualifications

• M.Sc/Seed Technology qualifications with seed testing lab exposure.
• Ability to evaluate seedling quality and maintain clear records.
• Basic Excel skills and diligent documentation are essential.

Responsibilities

• Draw representative samples from incoming and processed lots and maintain records lot by lot.
• Run germination tests and classify normal, abnormal, and dead seedlings.
• Perform physical purity analysis, ODV, moisture tests, and related counts.
• Maintain retention sample library with dates for traceability.
• Release or hold lots against internal standards and inform Production promptly.
• Maintain GOT plots for purity observations at flowering stage.
• Keep lab registers and test reports audit-ready at all times.

Job description

Every lot that leaves Hisar carries a germination percentage and a purity figure on its tag. You produce that figure. If it is wrong, a farmer finds out five months later standing in his own field, and by then there is nothing anybody can do about it. This is a role where being slow and correct...

What you will do

• Draw representative samples from incoming and processed lots as per the prescribed sampling procedure, and maintain submitted and working sample records lot by lot.
• Run germination tests in the medium each crop requires, take first and final counts on schedule, and classify normal seedlings, abnormal seedlings and dead seed correctly. Seedling evaluation is the skill this job is actually judged on.
• Run physical purity analysis, other distinguishable variety (ODV) counts, other crop seed and weed seed counts, and moisture testing.
• Maintain the retention sample library with dates, so any complaint arriving from Bathinda or Bareilly can be traced back to a physical sample of that exact lot.
• Release or hold lots against Neev's internal standard, and release a hold to Production and Operations the same day. A hold is a commercial decision as much as a technical one, so it has to reach the right desk fast.
• Maintain the grow-out test (GOT) plots for genetic purity and record observations at the flowering stage.
• Keep the lab register, equipment calibration records and test reports audit-ready at all times, not in the week before an audit.

What you must have

• M.Sc Seed Science and Technology or Seed Technology, or B.Sc Agriculture with at least 1 year in a seed testing laboratory.
• Correct seedling evaluation. You will be tested on it at interview.
• Careful record keeping. Handwriting in a register still matters in this job.
• Basic Excel, and an email habit you actually keep.

Nice to have

• Experience in an accredited or state seed testing laboratory.
• Exposure to seed health testing or vigour testing.
• Familiarity with tetrazolium testing.
• Working knowledge of the seed standards for wheat, mustard, gram and berseem.

Hisar seed testing laboratory, Industrial Area. Occasional travel to GOT plots and the processing area. No sales travel. Monday to Saturday. Longer hours during the post-harvest testing peaks in April to May and November to December, when lots arrive faster than they can be tested.
