PACCAR India is seeking an experienced Technical Lead (Mechanical) to guide design and development of Cab & Hood systems in Pune. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, provide technical direction through concept to production, and mentor engineers while leveraging Creo Parametric, sheet metal and plastic design, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive.
  • 8–12 years of hands-on experience in Mechanical engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric & Windchill; familiarity with sheet metal, plastic, and basic casting design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction and engineering solutions for complex design challenges.
  • Lead conceptualization and design of Cab Interior and Exterior components.
  • Work on customer option-based models & drawing with Creo Family Table pro level.
  • Develop robust sheet-metal & plastic part designs with understanding of fabrication processes.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings including GD&T, BOMs, and engineering release docs.
  • Review and guide CAD models, assemblies, and drawings to ensure standards.
  • Perform packaging, tool clearance analysis and apply ergonomics principles.
  • Support development of large assemblies with configuration management.
  • Collaborate with local and global cross-functional teams for alignment and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to cost reduction, value engineering, localization and productivity improvements.

PACCAR India is seeking an experienced Technical Lead, Engineering to join our dynamic team in Pune. In this role, you will lead the design and development of Cab & Hood systems, including cab structures, interior and exterior trim, hood systems, closures, chassis-mounted components, and associated brackets throughout the product development lifecycle.

As a Technical Lead, you will provide technical direction and engineering solutions for complex design challenges while guiding the development of robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective products. Leveraging your expertise in Creo Parametric, sheet metal and plastic part design, vehicle packaging, GD&T, and manufacturing processes, you will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive successful program execution from concept through production release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction and engineering solutions for complex design challenges.
  • Lead the conceptualization and design of Cab Interior and Exterior components, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Work on customer option-based models & drawing with the use of Creo Family Table pro level.
  • Develop robust sheet – metal & plastic part designs with a strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOM creation, with adherence to engineering standards.
  • Review and guide the creation of CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings to ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Perform packaging, tool clearance analysis and apply ergonomics principles, evaluations in designs.
  • Work and support on development of large assemblies, including effective use of simplified representations and configuration management techniques.
  • Collaborate with local and global cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment, manufacturability, and successful program execution.
  • Experience in cost reduction initiatives, value engineering, localization, and implementation of productivity improvements is an added advantage.
  • Creo, Sheetmetal, Plastic & Creo Simulation – an added advantage.
  • Interdisciplinary Knowledge

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive.

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:

  • 8–12 years of hands – on experience in Mechanical engineering.
  • Review, approve, and guide the creation of CAD models, manufacturing drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and engineering release documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric & Family Table and Windchill.
  • Solid understanding of sheet – metal, Plastic, Basic Casting design and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiar with truck systems and components.
  • Ability to manage and design large assemblies efficiently.
  • Experience in tool clearance, reliability, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Lead design reviews and collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
