Department: Mechanical Engineering
Location: Pashan, Pune

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop innovative products while driving associated research and development (R&D) activities. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that products, applications, and machines are developed in accordance with the highest quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, while contributing to continuous innovation and product excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and development of mechanical sub-assemblies & parts, considering manufacturing processes in metals (sheet metal, machining, casting, etc.) along with plastics (FRP, vacuum forming, etc.)
• Standard bought-out part selection such as bearings, gearboxes, motors, hardware, etc.
• 2D drawings, 3D parts & assembly in SolidWorks (analysis experience is a plus)
• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards (CE, ISO, ASME)
• Participate in cross-functional engineering tasks and solving technical and quality issues
• Responsible for coordinating with the Supply Chain
• Vendor interaction wherever required for part development or purchasing bought-out items during the development phase
• Carry out prototype development and testing & validation of mechanisms and systems
• Prepare and maintain production release documentation (BOM, GA drawings, manufacturing files)

Preferred Qualifications

• Base qualification: An Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5-6 years of experience in Mechanical Design, Product Design & development, preferably in the Industrial, Automobile, Robotics, Appliances or Material Handling industry.

Skills Required

• Good knowledge of material selection as per the application and understanding of manufacturing process limitations
• Knowledge of electromechanical design, prototype development & testing, and handling multi-functional activities related to product design
• Familiarity with product development steps such as vendor interaction, stakeholder management, timely updating of the project plan, and production release documentation (BOM, GA drawings, manufacturing files)
• Working knowledge of GD&T and basic DFM/DFA principles for cost-effective design
• Knowledge of adaptive & empirical design principles and their implementation with certifications & standards such as CE, IEC
• Good experience in 2D drawings, 3D parts & assembly design along with analysis in SolidWorks
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned modules
