Job summary

Alten in Bengaluru, India seeks a Technical Author to develop and maintain detailed documentation and illustrations for automotive parts catalogues. This role emphasizes BOM creation, IPC catalogue updates, and ensuring accurate serviceability information for spare parts.

The candidate should have 1–3 years of experience in automotive technical writing, with in-office work and focus on quality control of catalogues and related documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive technical authoring and documentation.
• Knowledge of creating and maintaining parts catalogues and illustrations.
• Familiarity with BOM creation, ECN/DCN processes is a plus.
• Understanding of spare parts, assembly levels, and serviceability information.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical documentation and illustrations for parts catalogues.
• Develop BOMs and illustrations to reflect design changes in catalogues.
• Identify spare parts, parts assembly levels, and provide serviceability information.
• Ensure quality control on catalogues and documentation outputs.
• Support wiring harness, pneumatics, and powertrain concept documentation.

Job description

Job Title: Technical Author

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical documentation knowledge and Strong at communication
• Must have knowledge on Illustration Parts catalogue creation (IPC)
• Knowledge on the automotive system and components
• Identify Spare parts, assembly levels and Provide serviceability information for all spare parts, Developing BOM & Illustrations to update design changes in parts catalogues
• Strong Knowledge of Creating and maintaining catalogues, Quality control.
• Added on strong knowledge on Wiring Harness, Pneumatics supplies & Power train concepts

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in Electromobility vehicles is an added advantage.
• Knowledge on Tracking the components and Multi formats of file conversions
• Management of Design/Engineering Change, Customer Adaptation (CA) parts and Deviation activities
• Added advantage of having knowledge on Spare part engineering (SPE) in aftermarket Technology(AMT)

Nice to Have:

Hands-on experience in BOM Creation, ECN, DCN and Spare parts

Experience:

1–3 years in automotive as Technical Author.
