Job summary

Alten in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India is seeking a Technical Writer/ Technical Author to develop and maintain automotive documentation, IPCs, illustrations, and spare parts catalogues.

You will work on BOMs, design changes, and ensure quality control across multi-format files, while applying knowledge of wiring harnesses, pneumatics, and powertrain concepts. BE/BTech in mechanical engineering and 1–5 years of automotive technical author experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• BE / BTech in Mechanical engineering is required.
• 1–5 years of automotive experience as a Technical Author.
• In-office Bengaluru role with exposure to IPCs and cataloguing.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain IPCs, BOMs and illustrations for parts catalogues.
• Develop serviceability information and update design changes in catalogs.
• Quality control across multi-format files and catalogs.
• Apply knowledge of wiring harness, pneumatics and powertrain concepts.
• Identify spare parts and assembly levels for catalog updates.

Job description

Job Title: Technical Writer/ Technical Author

Key Responsibilities

• Technical documentation knowledge and Strong at communication
• Must have knowledge on Illustration Parts catalogue creation (IPC)
• Knowledge on the automotive system and components
• Identify Spare parts, assembly levels and Provide serviceability information for all spare parts, Developing BOM & Illustrations to update design changes in parts catalogues
• Strong Knowledge of Creating and maintaining catalogues, Quality control.
• Added on strong knowledge on Wiring Harness, Pneumatics supplies & Power train concepts.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in Electromobility vehicles is an added advantage.
• Knowledge on Tracking the components and Multi formats of file conversions
• Management of Design/Engineering Change, Customer Adaptation (CA) parts and Deviation activities
• Added advantage of having knowledge on Spare part engineering (SPE) in aftermarket Technology(AMT)

• Nice to Have: Hands-on experience in BOM Creation, ECN, DCN and Spare parts

• Experience: 1 to 5 years in automotive as Technical Author.
