Job summary

Alten in Chennai is seeking a Technical Author- WDA with 2–5 years of automotive publications and wiring harness documentation. The role involves creating, updating, and validating wiring harness information across model years.

You will collaborate with the North America team to resolve inquiries and ensure compliance with client standards, while guiding junior authors and supporting training efforts.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical/Automotive/Mechatronics or Advance Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics.
• 2–5 years of experience in automotive publications or wiring harness work.
• Analytical skills and good communication with customers.
• Experience with automotive wiring harness documentation development.
• Hands-on with illustration tools, notably Adobe Illustrator CS2.
• Ability to work with global teams and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

• Work on automotive wiring harness routing, harness updates, and connector information updates.
• Gather data from documents and schematics for updates.
• Create circuit schematics for new model year releases using illustration tools.
• Analyze wiring harness information and its graphical representation.
• Migrate information to client global standards and update client systems.
• Collaborate with the North America wiring team to resolve inquiries.
• Update tracking sheets and inform the team leader of progress.
• Attend internal and client meetings to discuss status and technical details.
• Provide guidance to less experienced authors.
• Support customer satisfaction by adhering to standards and timelines.

Job description/ roles & responsibilities -

• Work on automotive wiring harness, harness routing, comparison of harness, and connector information updates.
• Information gathering from provided documents and physical schematics
• Creation of circuit schematics for new model year release and updates in existing schematics using illustration tool.
• Work on analysis and graphical representation of wiring harness and connector information.
• Work on clean up activity to migrate information as per client’s global standards.
• Work on updating wiring harness information in client system for Model year release.
• Collaborate with wiring team located at North America for effective resolution of enquiry
• Update various tracking sheets and advise team leader/manager regarding progress of work
• Participate in (internal/customer) meetings to update status of work assignments & for technical discussions
• Provide training/guidance to less experienced authors
• Facilitate Customer Satisfaction by means of adhering to standards, timelines & qualitative output
