Job summary

ALTEN India seeks an experienced Technical Documentation/Proofreader with 5+ years in Automotive SPI to lead parts catalogue development across multiple projects in Bengaluru. You will manage engineering changes, ensure quality and process improvements, and mentor team members while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

You will interpret complex drawings, BOM hierarchies, and product structures, driving defect reduction and standardized processes with Windchill and related tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Automotive Aftermarket Parts Catalogue/Technical Documentation.
• Strong Windchill or similar PLM/Authoring tool experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOM hierarchies.
• Experience with quality management, RCA, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluent English communication (C1).
• Experience guiding and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end ownership of parts catalogue development and maintenance across projects.
• Lead engineering changes, impact analysis, and implementation strategies.
• Interpret and validate complex drawings, BOM hierarchies, and product structures.
• Establish and enforce quality standards; identify trends and reduce defects.
• Lead RCA discussions and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide expert inputs for high‑quality visual outputs.
• Interface between production, quality, and customer stakeholders.
• Support project performance tracking and ensure timelines and delivery commitments.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers; support capability development.

We are seeking an experienced professional with 5+ years in Automotive Aftermarket Spare Parts Information (SPI) to lead parts catalogue development and ensure high-quality delivery across projects. The role involves managing engineering changes, driving quality and process improvements, and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders. You will also mentor team members, support project execution, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Strong expertise in BOM structures, engineering drawings, and PLM tools like Windchill is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end ownership of parts catalogue development and maintenance across multiple projects, while managing complex multi‑team workflows effectively
• Drive decision‑making on engineering changes, impact analysis, and implementation strategies
• Interpret and validate complex engineering drawings, BOM hierarchies and product structures

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) discussions and ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions

• Extensive experience in Automotive_Aftermarket - Parts Catalouge
• Strong expertise in WINDCHILL or similar PDM/PLM/Authoring tools and workflow systems
• Deep understanding of engineering drawings, BOM hierarchies, product strcture
• Proven experience in quality management, RCA, and continuous improvement practices
• Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving capability
• Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to guide teams and influence decisions across functions
• Effective communication skills in English C1 level
• Exposure to workload planning and delivery to assist the Project Lead is an added advantage
• Experience in WINDCHILL (Partslink), CorelDRAW, Creo View, LISA, KOLA, RAPID, GLOOPS, EDB, SAFT, IMPACT is an added advantage

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or equivalent

Experience

5+ years of experience in:

Parts Catalogue / Technical Documentation within automotive or similar domain

• Experience: 5-8 years in automotive as Techical Documentation.
