Job summary

Mainfreight seeks a capable Air Freight Team Lead to drive the Mumbai West Region’s air freight business. You will lead export and import operations, ensure service levels, maintain strong relationships with airlines, overseas offices, and service partners, and drive process improvements.

The role demands 8–12 years in air freight, a graduate degree, and proficiency with CargoWise; English and local languages are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in any field.
• Knowledge of CargoWise system is an advantage; otherwise adaptable to similar platforms.
• 8–12 years of experience in air freight; consideration for 6–10 years as Asst Manager.
• Fluent in English and local languages; customer oriented and detail focused.

Responsibilities

• Lead air freight operations for Mumbai Branch, covering West India airports.
• Oversee daily export/import air freight activities with timely execution and accurate documentation.
• Respond to overseas RFQs with competitive proposals.
• Ensure compliance with IATA, DG, customs, and security guidelines.
• Coordinate with airlines, master loaders, and overseas offices for freight quotes and bookings.
• Update CargoWise data and assist in monthly P&L and billing processes.

Job Profile:

To lead and develop Air Freight business in Mumbai West Region, ensuring development of Air Export and Import business while delivering exceptional customer service, operational excellence, compliance, and strong relationships with customers, airlines, overseas offices, and service partners.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the Air freight business at Mumbai Branch, also covering other airports in West Area.
• Manage & Oversee daily Air Export and Air Import operations, ensuring timely execution of shipments with accurate documentation, ensuring the committed service levels.
• Ensure that Overseas Network enquiries/RFQ are responded on time with competitive proposal.
• Ensure compliance with IATA, DG Regulations, customs and Aviation security guidelines are followed.
• Engage with Airline/Master Loader /Overseas offices for freight quote & booking.
• Co-ordinates with all the parties to understand the business scope and come up with competitive business solution.
• Ensure that all the details are updated in Cargo Wise, Profit Loss analysis and billing is completed on time.
• Joining internal and external meetings for Air Freight business development.
• Provide necessary support and market information to Commercials Sales team in India and with our network.
• Any other ad-hoc projects/Task Assigned by their Manager.

What we are looking for:

• Someone who has good knowledge of freight forwarding business for Air Freight.
• Candidate must possess a Graduate Degree in any field.
• Knowledge of Cargo wise system will be added advantage / if not the candidate should be adaptable or have solid work experience of working other related platforms.
• Team Leader: 8 -12 years of experience. We also encourage candidates with lesser experience (6-10 years) to be considered as Asst Manager.
• Required Language(s): English and local languages
• Someone who is consistently looking to improve processes and find better solutions to support our clients.
• Attention to detail with the ability to assess priorities
• Team Player with initiative and good human relations skills
• Customer oriented, good follow up, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
