Job summary

ORBIT & SKYLINE in India is seeking a procurement professional to manage purchasing activities across mechanical, chemical, or industrial materials. You will negotiate pricing, interpret engineering drawings, and collaborate with QA, Engineering, and Finance to align with business goals.

The role focuses on building supplier relationships, driving MRB/variance material processes, and leading procurement projects for global suppliers. Strong SAP and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or an MBA in Supply Chain Management.
• Experience in purchasing or procurement with global suppliers preferred.
• Ability to independently negotiate pricing and manage purchasing transactions.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in SAP (preferably SAP HANA module).
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong verbal and written communication across functions.
• Solid understanding of supply chain processes and MR Planning.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods, materials, and components meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Monitor and advise on risks or opportunities for the organization.
• Build and strengthen supplier relationships with effective communication.
• Lead procurement projects for assigned material groups and ensure timely execution.
• Process MRB and variance material, including contacting suppliers for RMAs and creating rework POs in SAP.
• Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules.
• Communicate supply constraints promptly to minimize operational impact.
• Handle shortage parts by working with suppliers and Managers.
• Negotiate with suppliers for delivery terms and cost savings.
• Identify Value Analysis and Continuous Improvement opportunities and drive new processes.
• Collaborate with QA, Engineering, Warehouse, Logistics, and Finance on issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
• Interface between suppliers and internal departments on purchasing processes.
• Prepare and maintain monthly KPI reports.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods, materials, and components in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.

• Creating and ensuring completion of IDAC documentation
  
• Schedule the flow of quality materials from high-performance and price-competitive supply sources.

• Communicate and promote supply constraints or disruptions to relevant stakeholders promptly to minimize operational impact.
  
• Handle shortage parts effectively by closely working with suppliers and Commodity/Category Managers.
  
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal delivery terms, cost savings, and overall value for the organization.
  
• Identify and present Value Analysis and Continuous Improvement opportunities to the business and drive implementation of new processes.
  
• Work in close collaboration with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Warehouse, Logistics, and Finance teams to influence decisions on issue resolution and process adherence.
  
• Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures.
  
• Act as an interface between suppliers and internal departments on purchasing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or an MBA in Supply Chain Management.
  
• 113 years of experience working within a purchasing or procurement team, preferably handling global suppliers and direct materials/services in a manufacturing environment.
  
• Ability to manage purchasing transactions and independently negotiate pricing, demonstrating strong initiative and sound judgment.
  
• Capability to interpret complex engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications.
  
• Proficiency in SAP (preferably SAP HANA module).
  
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  
• Solid understanding of supply chain processes and tools, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
