Job summary

Huhtamaki India Limited in Maharashtra is hiring an experienced Lamination Operator to operate and monitor solvent-based and solvent-less lamination lines. You will set precise process parameters, perform start-ups and changes overs, and ensure product quality through in-process checks.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience on lamination equipment, familiarity with ERP records, and a strong focus on safety and 5S practices.

Qualifications

• ITI, Diploma or Graduate qualification required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating lamination machines (solvent-based or solvent-less).
• Familiarity with SOPs, safety standards and 5S practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor lamination machines, including unwinder, coating/metering, laminating stations, dryers and cure systems.
• Set process parameters (adhesive mix, coating weight, temperatures, line speed, tension) per recipes.
• Perform start-up, changeover, shutdown and cleaning; support changeovers and material changes.
• Conduct in-process quality checks and report deviations to QA/Production.
• Maintain records in ERP and production documents; ensure OEE targets and waste control.
• Provide shift handover; guide junior operators on safe operation and SOP compliance.

Key Performance Areas (KPIs)

Operate and monitor solvent-based and solvent-less lamination machines, including unwinder, adhesive coating/metering system, laminating/nip stations, drying oven, curing system, rewinder and associated equipment. Set and control critical process parameters such as adhesive mix ratio, coating weight, adhesive temperature, roller pressure, line speed, web tension, oven temperature, solvent concentration and curing conditions. Ensure correct selection and handling of adhesive, hardener, solvent, substrates and other materials as per approved job card, recipe and specifications. Carry out machine start-up, changeover, shutdown, cleaning and product/adhesive changeover as per SOP. Monitor laminate quality for bond strength, coating weight, appearance, wrinkles, air entrapment, tunnelling, delamination, edge sticking, web shifting, blocking and winding quality. Ensure proper adhesive mixing ratio and viscosity control and monitor adhesive consumption against standards. Perform in-process quality checks and immediately highlight any deviation to the Quality and Production teams. Maintain required OEE, productivity, line speed and wastage targets while ensuring consistent product quality. Identify process abnormalities and take appropriate corrective actions to minimize wastage, rejection, rework and downtime. Carry out first-level troubleshooting and coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Process/Technical and Planning teams for machine and process-related issues. Maintain accurate records of production, wastage, downtime, adhesive consumption, solvent consumption and process parameters in ERP/system and production documents. Follow all SOPs, work instructions, quality standards, safety procedures, PPE requirements and 5S practices, particularly while handling solvents and chemicals. Identify opportunities for wastage reduction, adhesive/solvent consumption reduction, productivity improvement and process optimization. Provide effective shift handover, including production status, machine condition, quality concerns, process deviations and pending actions. Guide and support junior operators/helpers in machine operation, process control, quality requirements and safe working practices.
