Job summary

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in Chennai is seeking a Design Engineer Structural Steel to perform steel structural design for metro projects and related public infrastructure.

You will conduct detailed analyses, prepare drawings and specifications, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with relevant codes while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in steel structural design for metro projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (MIDAS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.).
• Experience with BIM software (Revit, Tekla Structures).

Design Engineer Structural Steel

Design & Engineering

• Perform detailed structural analysis and design of steel structures for metro rail systems.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for steel components.
• Design steel frameworks for stations, canopies, footbridges, and support structures.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes (IRC, IRS, IS, AISC, AASHTO, Eurocode and international standards.)
• Perform seismic and wind load analysis for steel structures in urban environments.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams for integrated structural solutions.
• Provide technical support during construction phase.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, and durability requirements for public infrastructure.
• Ensure designs consider maintainability and lifecycle costs.
• Prepare technical documentation and compliance reports.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in structural analysis software (MIDAS, STAAD Pro,SAP2000, ETABS, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of steel design software
• Experience with BIM software (Revit, Tekla Structures)
