Role Summary
The Store Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the plant's stores and warehouse operations, including receipt, inspection, storage, preservation, issuance, and dispatch of materials. The role requires maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring timely availability of materials for production, minimizing inventory losses, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the raw material, packing material, consumables, spare parts, WIP, and finished goods stores.
- Ensure timely receipt and proper storage of incoming materials.
- Verify materials against purchase orders, delivery challans, and applicable quality/quantity requirements.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Accounts departments for smooth material flow.
- Ensure timely issuance of materials to production against authorized material requisitions.
- Maintain accurate stock records in ERP.
- Monitor minimum, maximum, and reorder stock levels to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO principles wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, binning, and location control of materials.
- Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete, excess, and damaged inventory.
- Ensure proper handling and preservation of materials to prevent damage and deterioration.
- Control material movement and maintain proper documentation for all receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
- Supervise and allocate work to storekeepers, warehouse staff, helpers, and other store personnel.
- Train employees on store procedures, safety, material handling, and housekeeping.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S standards in the stores and warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Coordinate with production planning to ensure materials are available as per the production schedule.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and store-performance reports.
- Support internal, external, financial, and inventory audits.
- Identify opportunities to reduce inventory carrying costs, material losses, and operational inefficiencies.
- Ensure proper segregation and control of rejected, returned, quarantined, and obsolete materials.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of stores and warehouse management
- Inventory control and stock reconciliation
- Knowledge of ERP/SAP inventory modules
- Material receiving, inspection, storage, and issue procedures
- FIFO/FEFO and batch/lot control
- Knowledge of MRN/GRN, material requisitions, stock transfers, and inventory documentation

- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and basic warehouse safety
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Qualification:
Graduate in any discipline; Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Materials Management, or related field preferred.
5-10 years of relevant experience in stores/warehouse operations within a manufacturing company.
Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
