Job summary

Zigsaw is seeking a Store Supervisor in Kolkata to manage factory store operations, ensuring timely receipt, storage, and issue of materials for production. You will maintain inventory levels, ensure proper storage, and support audits and safety compliance.

Ideal candidates have 10–15 years in factory store/warehouse roles with strong ERP experience and leadership abilities to supervise store staff and coordinate with production teams.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of factory store/warehouse experience.

• ERP experience with SAP, Tally, or Oracle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and inspect incoming materials with GRN documentation.
• Store materials in designated locations and maintain FIFO where applicable.
• Issue materials to production and coordinate with supervisors on requirements.
• Monitor stock levels and inform procurement for reorders.
• Maintain store systems and support audits and safety compliance.
• Supervise storekeepers and ensure effective team coordination.

Job description

The Store Supervisor is responsible for managing the factory store operations, ensuring timely

receipt, proper storage, accurate tracking, and issue of materials required for production. The role

ensures uninterrupted production by maintaining optimal inventory levels and enforcing proper

storage and material handling systems.

Key Responsibilities

Material Receipt & Inspection

• Receive incoming materials from suppliers as per purchase orders.
• Coordinate with the Quality Control department for inspection approval.
• Ensure proper documentation of Goods Receipt Notes (GRN).
• Report discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the Purchase department.

Storage & Preservation

• Ensure materials are stored in designated locations as per storage guidelines.
• Maintain proper labelling, binning, and identification of all items.
• Follow FIFO principles where applicable.
• Ensure safe handling and storage conditions to prevent damage, loss, or deterioration.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the store area.

Material Issue to Production

• Issue materials to production lines as per approved requisitions.
• Ensure timely supply of materials to avoid production delays.
• Maintain proper records of all issued materials.
• Coordinate with production supervisors regarding material requirements.

Inventory Management & Tracking

• Monitor stock levels and inform Purchase for reorder planning.
• Conduct regular physical stock verification and cycle counting.
• Investigate and report stock variances.
• Ensure proper tracking of fast-moving and slow-moving items.

Store System & Compliance

• Maintain updated documentation of all store transactions.
• Implement proper storage systems and improve layout efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and factory standards.
• Support internal and external audits.

Team Supervision

• Supervise storekeepers and store assistants.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management systems.
• Understanding of warehouse/store operations in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Tally, Oracle, etc.) preferred.
• Good coordination and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of safety standards and material handling.
• Problem-solving and organizational skills.

Educational Qualification

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Commerce, or related field (preferred).
• Relevant experience in factory or manufacturing store operations.

Experience

• 10 -15 years of experience in factory store/warehouse operations.
