Job summary

Peninsula Grand is seeking a Steward to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, assist servers with food handling, and ensure stations are stocked and ready for service.

The role emphasizes guest interactions, seating guests, taking orders, and handling inquiries, while also guiding junior staff where applicable to uphold service standards.

Qualifications

• Assists in inventory of crockery and glassware.
• Supports with scheduling and duties under supervisor.
• Monitors wastage and spoilage to minimize loss.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitation: maintain a clean kitchen and dining area in compliance with safety rules.
• Food and beverage support: assist servers, prep simple items, keep bars and stations stocked.
• Guest service: greet, seat guests, take orders, answer inquiries and handle phones.
• Table and dining area setup: set tables with linens and cutlery and clear tables after meals.

Role & responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitation: Cleaning dishes, utensils, and equipment; maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining area; and adhering to all safety and sanitation regulations.
• Food and beverage support: Assisting servers with carrying food from the kitchen, helping prepare food like salads or appetizers, and ensuring bars and stations are fully stocked with items like napkins, silverware, and beverages.
• Guest service: Greeting and seating guests, taking drink and starter orders, answering phones, and responding to guest inquiries.
• Table and dining area setup: Setting tables with clean linens and silverware, and clearing tables as guests finish their meals.

Preferred candidate profile

• Assisting with inventory of supplies like crockery and glassware.
• Following duty schedules and performing tasks as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
• Ensuring minimum wastage, breakage, and spoilage of items.
• In some cases, a steward may also have supervisory responsibilities over junior staff, particularly in a senior steward role.
