Motherhood Women & Children’s Hospital is seeking a Senior Staff Nurse for ICU/NICU units in Kolkata. The role involves delivering high-quality nursing care, patient assessment, medication administration, and coordinating activities with doctors and staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow.

The incumbent will supervise junior nurses, maintain documentation, manage supplies, and participate in infection control and continuous quality improvement efforts within the department.

Qualifications

• GNM and/or BSc Nursing qualifications required.
• 3-5 years nursing experience in ICU/NICU.

Responsabilités

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients according to medical plans.
• Assess patient health status and monitor vital signs regularly.
• Identify changes in patient conditions and promptly inform the doctor.
• Administer prescribed medications, injections, and IV therapies.
• Perform wound dressing, catheter care, and specimen collection as authorized.
• Assist doctors during bedside procedures and examinations.
• Monitor patient responses to medications and treatments.
• Supervise and guide junior nurses during shifts.
• Coordinate nursing activities to ensure timely patient care.
• Ensure proper patient identification before procedures.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes and handover reports.
• Ensure safe handling of medical equipment and IV lines.
• Follow infection control and waste management protocols.
• Educate patients and attendants about medications and care.
• Coordinate with doctors and departments for continuity of care.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
• Check availability of nursing supplies and equipment.
• Report safety concerns and incidents through proper channels.

The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering quality nursing care while providing guidance and supervision to junior nursing staff. The involves patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring clinical conditions, coordinating nursing activities, assisting doctors during procedures, and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols. The Senior Staff Nurse supports the nursing in-charge in maintaining patient safety, effective documentation, and smooth functioning of the assigned ward or clinical department.

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients according to their medical conditions and treatment plans.
• Assess patients health status and monitor vital signs regularly.
• Identify changes in patient conditions and promptly inform the treating doctor.
• Administer prescribed medications, injections, and intravenous therapies accurately.
• Perform nursing procedures such as wound dressing, catheter care, and specimen collection as authorized.
• Assist doctors during bedside procedures, examinations, and clinical interventions.
• Monitor patients responses to medications and prescribed treatments.
• Supervise and guide junior nurses and other nursing personnel during assigned shifts.
• Coordinate nursing activities to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
• Ensure proper patient identification before administering medications or performing procedures.
• Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication charts, treatment records, and handover reports.
• Ensure safe handling of medical equipment, IV lines, catheters, and other patient-care devices.

• Prevent pressure injuries and falls through appropriate patient safety measures.
• Educate patients and attendants about medication schedules, hygiene, and basic care instructions.
• Coordinate with doctors, nursing in-charges, and other departments for continuity of care.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
• Check the availability of nursing supplies, equipment, and emergency materials.
• Report clinical incidents, medication errors, and patient safety concerns through established procedures.
• Participate in nursing training, audits, and quality improvement activities.
