Job Description

NICU Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to premature, critically ill, and high-risk newborns admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The involves continuous monitoring, administering medications, assisting neonatologists during procedures, operating neonatal life-support equipment, and educating parents while ensuring the highest standards of neonatal care.

Role & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor the condition of neonates continuously.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and prescribed treatments.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, and neonatal growth parameters.
• Operate and monitor incubators, radiant warmers, ventilators, CPAP, infusion pumps, and phototherapy units.
• Assist neonatologists during neonatal procedures and emergency resuscitation.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and neonatal records.
• Follow strict infection prevention and neonatal safety protocols.
• Educate parents regarding newborn care, breastfeeding, and discharge instructions.
• Coordinate with pediatricians, neonatologists, lactation consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in neonatal emergency response and Code Blue activities.
• Ensure compliance with NABH standards and NICU protocols.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the NICU Nursing In-charge.
