Job summary

Reliance Industries Limited seeks a Lead Subsea Engineer to head the Subsea team within D&C, plan, design, and execute subsea activities, and support Well Delivery in the Subsea domain. Travel to offshore rigs will be required.

You will supervise offshore operations, prepare BoD/RFPs, review drawings and QA/QC, and ensure HSE compliance across deepwater projects. 15 years of subsea experience is expected.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience within subsea industry with deepwater systems knowledge.
• Lead Subsea Engineer on at least three subsea development projects, preferably deepwater.
• Offshore experience in a well engineering discipline.
• Experience in deepwater HP/HT completions is a plus.
• International exposure is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Subsea team within D&C and plan, design, and execute subsea-related activities.
• Support the Well Delivery process in the Subsea domain.
• Prepare Basis of Design (BoD), RFPs, and bid evaluations for subsea systems and equipment; manage interfaces with other disciplines.
• Supervise subsea operations, prepare daily subsea work instructions, and monitor activities of service providers on drillships and intervention vessels.
• Review equipment design drawings, technical specifications, P&IDs, O&M manuals, and reports; incorporate results into subsea operations programs.
• Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, implement remedial actions, and drive continuous improvement.
• Liaise with Drilling Superintendent and Company Man for day-to-day subsea operations.
• Monitor site/vessel safety, ensure adherence to Well Delivery guidelines and HSE policies.
• Extensive knowledge of deepwater subsea systems (XTs, tubing hangers, tooling) and subsea FEED.
• Knowledge of API, ISO, and DNV standards for subsea activities.
• Identify opportunities for new technology to deliver operational benefits.

Job Accountabilities

Lead the Subsea team within D&C and plan, design, and execute subsea-related activities. Support the Well Delivery process in the Subsea domain.

• Support onshore and offshore teams as the Company representative and Subsea Subject Matter Expert (SME), and report operational updates to senior management.
• Prepare Basis of Design (BoD), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and bid evaluations for subsea systems and associated equipment, including Landing Strings and ROVs. Manage interfaces with other disciplines. This will be predominantly an office-based position but will also require travel to offshore rigs.
• Supervise subsea operations, prepare daily subsea work instructions, and monitor the activities of service provider companies on drillships and intervention vessels.
• Review equipment design drawings, technical specifications, P&IDs, O&M manuals, and reports such as Cause & Effect analyses, FMECA, and Root Cause Analysis from vendors/service providers, and incorporate the results into subsea operations programs.
• Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, ensure implementation of remedial actions, maximize operational efficiency, and identify lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Liaise with the Drilling Superintendent and Company Man for day-to-day rig subsea-related operations.
• Monitor site/vessel safety requirements, ensuring personnel participate in and adhere to the Company’s Well Delivery guidelines and HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
• Extensive knowledge of deepwater subsea systems, such as XTs, tubing hangers, and associated tooling.
• Strong background in subsea engineering, project management, onshore operations, design, fabrication, vendor management, subcontractor selection, FATs, EFATs, SRTs, SITs, and CWOPs, including performance reviews, HSE compliance, implementation, and sign-off.
• Skilled in the engineering, installation, commissioning/decommissioning, and operation of subsea systems, including subsea wellheads, trees, completions (lower/upper), flowlines, manifolds, control systems, subsea umbilicals, riser control modules, and ROVs.
• Good knowledge of well services such as slickline and coiled tubing.
• Deep knowledge of Subsea FEED, design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, CWOP/DWOP, compilation and upgradation of QA/QC documents, and third-party service quarterly reviews, including FATs and SITs, involving liaison with different departments and vendor companies.
• Good experience in riser analysis and integrity management of riser and conductor systems, including operability analysis for drilling risers, weak-point assessment, vessel watch circles, and drift-off/drive-off analysis.
• Knowledge of API, ISO, and DNV standards as required for subsea activities.
• Continuously seek advances in new technology and identify opportunities for implementation where feasible to deliver benefits to operations.

Education Required

• University degree (B.Tech/BE) in Petroleum, Mechanical Engineering, or Electronics.

Experience Required

• 15 years of experience within the Subsea industry, with extensive technical knowledge of subsea systems, mainly XTs and SPS systems, as well as structures, IWOCS, controls, umbilicals, risers, and flowlines in deepwater projects.
• Should have worked as a Lead Subsea Engineer on at least three subsea development projects, including upper completions phases, preferably with deepwater operators.
• Offshore experience in a well engineering discipline.
• Experience in deepwater HP/HT completions will be an added advantage.
• Should have worked for at least 2 years on deepwater drillships or subsea field platforms. International exposure will be an added advantage.
