Job summary

United Airlines is seeking a Senior Engineer for its Technical Operations Reliability team in India. You will lead advanced technical analyses of defects and fleet trends, coordinate cross-functional actions, and drive reliability improvements across projects.

Strong data skills and communication with engineering leadership are essential. Qualifications include 5+ years in aviation or related fields, a degree in engineering, and FAA/DGCA-equivalent credentials.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in aviation, aircraft maintenance, reliability engineering, engineering analysis, or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and fleet health and/or reliability programs.
• Ability to perform drill-down and root-cause analysis using complex, high-volume operational data.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship.
• Must be fluent in English and Hindi (written and spoken).
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

• Lead analysis of aircraft defects, operational interruptions, system failures, and fleet trends to identify root causes, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Lead or review fleet, system, and EA effectiveness assessments to ensure corrective actions and engineering changes achieve reliability outcomes.
• Integrate technical and operational information across projects or fleets, identify gaps or adverse trends, and drive follow-up or escalation.
• Provide technical guidance and peer review to engineers, promoting consistent analysis, documentation, and effectiveness practices.
• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Data, and other stakeholders to align findings, priorities, actions, and closure.
• Provide concise reliability updates, dashboards, recommendations, and decision support to engineering and leadership audiences.
• Lead or support improvements to reliability methods, data quality, tracking, reporting, and team processes.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Technical Operations Reliability team helps United operate safely and dependably by analyzing aircraft defects and operational disruptions, monitoring fleet and system trends, and supporting effective corrective actions.

The Senior Engineer provides advanced technical leadership across fleet and aircraft-system reliability work. Depending on assignment, the role may lead fleet reliability, EA effectiveness, cross-fleet analysis, or other Reliability initiatives, connecting operational data, engineering actions, and stakeholder decisions to improve aircraft performance.

• Experience with airline reliability programs, Engineering Authorizations, aircraft modifications, maintenance-program changes, or effectiveness reviews
• Familiarity with database querying and data visualization/reporting tools such as SQL, Power BI, Palantir Foundry, or Python
• Experience defining and tracking meaningful operational or reliability metrics
• Experience leading technical reviews, coordinating cross-functional work, mentoring others, or driving improvement actions through closure
