ThoughtFocus is seeking a SmartComm Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in the SmartComm/OpenText Exstream platform to design, develop, and support customer communications. The role focuses on scalable document generation, templates, layouts, rules, and content libraries aligned with business and compliance requirements.

You will design and implement batch and real-time generation, integrate SmartComm with CRM and core systems, and ensure performance, security, and regulatory

• 6+ years of experience in SmartComm/OpenText Exstream.
• Experience with Designer, Design Manager, and Communications Server.
• XML, XSD, XSLT and document composition experience; batch and real-time generation.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SmartComm Developer with 6+ years of hands‑on experience in SmartComm Platform to design, develop, and support customer communication solutions. The role involves building scalable, high‑quality document generation solutions aligned with business and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

SmartComm

• Design, develop, and maintain customer communication solutions using SmartComm.
• Develop and enhance templates, layouts, rules, scripts, and content libraries.
• Implement batch and real‑time document generation solutions.
• Work with XML, XSLT, and data mapping for document composition.

Integration & Technical Design

• Integrate SmartComm with upstream/downstream systems (CRM, Core systems, ECM, Archive).
• Develop solutions using SmartComm Designer, Design Manager, and Communications Server.
• Support document distribution via print, email, PDF, and digital channels.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and security standards.

Maintenance & Support

• Perform defect analysis, bug fixes, and performance tuning.
• Provide production support and handle incident resolution.
• Participate in root cause analysis and preventive improvements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand communication requirements.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs.
• Support UAT and production releases.
• Provide technical guidance to junior developers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

6+ years of experience in SmartComm/OpenText Exstream.

Strong hands‑on experience with:

• SmartComm/Exstream Designer & Design Manager
• Control Center / Communications Server
• XML, XSD, XSLT
• Experience with document composition, batch processing, and real‑time generation.
• Good understanding of print and digital communication workflows.

Tools & Platforms

• Experience with version control tools (Git, SVN).
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Domain & Soft Skills

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI) is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Individual role

Nice to Have

• OpenText certification in Exstream / SmartComm.
• Experience with regulatory and compliance‑driven communications.
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
